Bahar (1886-1951) was born in Mashhad, eastern Iran. He was famous for his poetry in his early years and was once called the "King of Poets". He was an active figure in the constitutional movement in Khorasan Province and participated in the editing work of the underground newspaper "Khorasan". In 1909, he presided over the publication of the Iranian Democratic Party's publication "New Year". Bahar's poems are full of patriotic passion and anti-imperialist and anti-feudal fighting spirit. They inherit the excellent tradition of Persian poetry in form and language.
