1. Li Zhaoxing, born in October 1940, is from Jiaonan, Shandong. After graduating from the Department of Spanish at Peking University in 1964, he worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Joined the Communist Party of China in December 1965. In 1970, he was stationed in Africa. In March 1982, he made his official appearance as an interpreter at the first press conference in the history of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

2. For five years from 1985 to 1990, he served as the Assistant Minister and the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Faced with many tough questions raised by Western reporters, Li Zhaoxing responded calmly, with his wit and firmness. 3. In February 1995, he was appointed Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs. In March 1998, he was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to the United States. Li Zhaoxing is known as the "poet diplomat" and published a collection of poetry and prose "Youth China".
