Life is full of miracles. They surround us every day. One of these miracles happened to me recently. I was filling my car's tank at a local gas station. It was only 10 A.M. but I already felt tired. It was a cloudy, gloomy and rainy day and I hadn't slept well the night before. After I paid for the gas I turned my car towards the main road. I looked right and left then my brain sent the signal for my foot to push on the gas pedal but nothing happened. Shocked, I shook my head to clear it and gazed down at my foot.

Life is full of miracles, and they happen around us every day. An incredible thing happened to me recently. I was filling up at a local gas station. Although it was only ten in the morning, I felt quite tired. It was cloudy and gloomy that day and looked like it was going to rain. I didn't sleep well the night before. After paying for gas, I was about to drive onto the main road. I looked left and right, and then my brain sent a signal to press my foot on the accelerator, but nothing happened. With a panic, I shook my head to clear my mind, then looked down at my feet.

Just as I did, though, a semi-truck roared past my car doing 60 mph. My weary, bleary eyes hadn't seen it when I had looked just 2 seconds earlier. If I had been pulling out when I should have been my little green car would have been smashed and I would have most likely been killed. I sat there for a long time quietly thanking God for sparing my life before pulling out on the road and heading home. This time both my brain and foot worked perfectly.

Just then a semi truck roared past my car at 60 miles per hour. Two seconds ago, I looked at it with tired eyes and blurred vision, but I didn't notice this situation. If my car had gone a little farther at that time, my green car would have been smashed to pieces, and I would have probably died. I sat in the car for a long time, thanking God that I had escaped death, and then I drove home, this time my brain and my feet working together.

As I looked back on that moment later I still couldn't understand it. Did God prevent my brain?s signal from reaching my foot? Did an angel grab my toes to keep them from pressing on the gas ? One question kept coming back into my mind as well: why? Why did I get this miracle? Why did God spare my life this day? Finally, I felt the answer forming deep within my heart and mind. I heard the words coming from my soul saying: ?You still have more to do. Your work is not done yet!?

When I recalled that moment later, I was still confused. Could it be that God blocked the signal from my brain to my feet? ?Or is there an angel holding my foot and not letting me step on the accelerator? There is another question lingering in my mind for a long time, why? I encountered such a miracle. Finally the answer emerged from my mind and my mind. I seem to hear my soul saying, you still have things to do, you still have many things that have not been completed.

Richard Bach wrote: ?Here is the test to find if your mission on Earth is finished: if you are alive it isn?t.? Wake up each day then knowing that your mission isn?t done yet . You have more love to share, more people to help, more kindness to give. You have one more day to be the miracle God meant for you to be.

Richard Bach (aviator, famous American A writer and troubadour, his world-renowned masterpieces such as "Jonathan the Seagull", "Biplane", "A Place That Never Was" and "The Miracle of the Mind" are often written deeply about one's own mind, and his works are characterized by firm power and profound meaning. Metaphors fascinate readers around the world and are known as "messengers from heaven.") once wrote: There is a way to test whether your mission in the world has been completed. As long as you are still alive, it means it has not been completed. You must be more loving, helpful, and merciful, and you will become a miracle in the near future. These are God's good wishes. The Coffee Place

The Coffee Shop

I used to believe courtesy was a thing of the past. Very seldom have I encountered a courteous human being in this modern era of the so called Generation X.

I once thought that etiquette was a thing of the past. In today's modern society, which is called the "forgotten generation", it is difficult for me to meet a person who can be called a "gentleman".

Recently, I had to change my thinking, when I came face to face with just such a human being. I had gone to a happening coffee place, with two of my grown up daughters. The place was crowded with the usual loud crowd and we had to climb a steep flight of stairs in order to find an empty table. After enjoying coffee and snacks, we were at the steep descent down the stairs, where the narrow space made climbing down only possible in a single file, with hardly any space for another person to either climb up or come down.

Recently, after I met such a person, my mind changed. I went to a coffee shop with my two adult daughters. But the cafe was packed with a rowdy crowd, so we had to climb steep stairs to find an empty table. After enjoying coffee and snacks, we walked up the steep stairs to get ready to go downstairs. In such a narrow space, only one person could go up and down, and there was hardly any room for another person to climb up or down.

Just as I was in the middle of my descent, a gentleman entered the main entrance of the restaurant which was right in front of the staircase. I was sure I would be pushed roughly by this man who will want to go up in a hurry. I kept coming down as fast as I could, holding on to the bannister, in lieu of my advanced years. My agile daughters were already down, looking up at me worriedly, hoping I would reach them before the stranger started up the stairs, knowing I was a nervous sort.

When I was halfway down the stairs, a gentleman walked in from the main entrance of the coffee shop and from the right front of the stairs. I was sure I would be roughly pushed away by this guy in a hurry to get upstairs. So I grabbed the handrail and headed downstairs as fast as I could ever go. My two nimble daughters were already downstairs, looking up at me worriedly, hoping I would get down before this stranger came up, for they knew I was a nervous person.

Nearly reaching them, I noticed the man still standing near the door. I reached my daughters and passed the stranger at the entrance door which he kept holding open. I looked back thinking he was still at the door, deciding whether to go in or find another less crowded place. I saw him going up the stairs, two at a time. I told my daughters about it and all three of us felt bad that we did not even thank the courteous gentleman who was actually holding the door open for us ladies to pass through before going up.

When I was almost downstairs, I noticed that the man was still standing at the door. I walked over to my daughter and as I passed the stranger standing at the door I noticed he had his hand against the door. I looked back, thinking he was still at the door, deciding whether to go in or find another store with fewer people. But I saw him going up the stairs two steps at a time. I told my daughters what I had seen and all three of us felt guilty for not thanking the polite gentleman who held the door for us before going upstairs.

We applauded his chivalry for both, waiting for us to come down before going up himself and also holding the main entrance door open for us to go out. Such well mannered people are hard to find these days, when Shoving, jostling and pushing is very common in our advanced but aggressive society. Till date, I remember this gentleman and pray to God to make more human beings like him.

That gentleman was waiting for us before going upstairs. He went downstairs first and opened the door for us to go out easily. We all praised his chivalry. Such polite people are hard to find in today's advanced but radical society where push and shove are rampant. To this day, I still remember this gentleman and pray to God that more people will treat others with the same courtesy as he did. About 100-word English Essay 3
