"Song of the Yue People" is an earlier poem that explicitly praises love in the history of Chinese literature. It, together with other folk poems of the Chu State, became the artistic source of "Chu Ci". "Song of the Yue People" comes from Liu Xiang's "Shuo Yuan" (Volume 11, Shan Shuo Chapter) of the Han Dynasty. The thirteenth paragraph also has Chinese characters to record its pronunciation in ancient Yue: "The grass is indiscriminate and the grass is indiscriminate in Chang Fangze in Changzhou Prefecture." "Tang Shen" The state is as close as Qin, Xuxumanyu is almost Zhaochan, Qin is overflowing, and it is followed by rivers and lakes."
Original text of the poem
This evening, what evening is coming? The boat is in the middle of the current. What day will it be that I shall be in the same boat with the prince? Being humiliated and treated well is not shameful. My heart was troubled and unstoppable, and I learned about the prince. There are trees in the mountains, and the trees have branches. My heart is happy for you, but you don’t know it.
Story
The story tells that on the day when King Xiangcheng of Chu State was ennobled and knighted, he stood by the river dressed in rich clothes. Doctor Chu Zhuang Xin passed by and was very happy to see him, so he stepped forward to salute and wanted to hold his hand. Xiangchengjun was angry with him for violating the etiquette and ignored him. So Zhuang Xin washed his hands and told Xiang Chengjun the story of Ejun of the Chu Kingdom: Ejun Zixi was the younger brother of the King of Chu. He was traveling by boat. There was an admiring Yue boatman who held an oar and sang to him. The song was melodious, lingering, euphemistic and touching. E Jun was so moved that he immediately had it translated into Chu language, thus giving rise to the words "Yueren Song". After E Jun understood the meaning of the song, instead of being angry, he went over to hug the boatman, covered him with an embroidered quilt, and was willing to sleep with him in the same bed. Zhuang Xin then asked Xiangcheng Jun: "E Jun is of noble status and can still have fun with the Yue boatman. Why can't I hold your hand?" Xiangchengjun really agreed to his request and handed his hand to him.
Original text of the story
"On the day when King Xiangcheng was first granted the title, he was dressed in green, carrying a jade sword, and walking on a silk boat. He stood on the swimming water. The doctor held a bell and hammer, and the county magistrate Holding the command, he shouted: "Who can cross the king's throne?" Zhuang Xin, a doctor of Chu, passed by and said it. Then he made a request and paid homage. He stood up and said, "I am willing to take your hand. Is that okay?" "Jun Xiangcheng looked angry and said nothing. Zhuang Xin moved his hands and said, "You don't hear that your husband, the gentleman of E, is boating in the new wave? Riding on Qinghan's boat, Ji Piao (the original word is Shang Lv Xia Liang), Zhang Cui Gai and inspecting the rhinoceros tail, Banli coat and jacket, the sound of bells and drums, Bi Bang Ping Yue people hugged and sang, the lyrics Said: 'The grass is overgrown, and the rivers and lakes are flowing to Changzhou. The state is as close as Qin Xuxu, and the state is as close as Zhaochan to Qinyu, and the rivers and lakes are flowing.' Gentleman Xi said: "I don't know the song of Yue, but Zi Shi will explain it to me Chu." ’ So Naizhao Yue translated it, and Nai Chu said it: ‘Tonight, what evening is coming, and the stream is in the middle of the continent (one is called the stream in the boat). What day will it be that I shall be in the same boat with the prince? When you are humiliated and treated well, you don't feel ashamed, and your heart is stubborn and never stops. You know how to be a prince. There are trees in the mountains, and the trees have branches. My heart says that you are here, but you don’t know. ’ So Mr. E, Xi, picked up his sleeves, hugged him as he walked, and covered him with his embroidered quilt. The gentleman of E is fair, and he is the mother-brother of the King of Chu. The official is Ling Yin, the noble is Zhi Gui, and the people of Yiyue can still have sex as much as they want. Now why is it that the king is more fair than the gentleman of Hubei? Why is it that the minister is not as good as a person like Pang Xing? If you are willing to take the hand of the king, why can't you do it? "Xiangchengjun came forward with his hand in his hand and said: "When I was young, I also tried to use sex to praise my elders. I have never killed such a person. From now on, I am willing to accept my orders with the courtesy of a strong young man. " ——Liu Xiang's "Shuo Yuan" (Volume 11, Shan Shuo Chapter)

Version 1
Many scholars in modern times Linguist Zheng Zhang Shangfang translated the original words of "Yueren Song" from Thai: "Hey, I'm so shy at night. I'm good at rocking the boat across the country. Rocking the boat is leisurely. You are so happy that you are as humble as me, but your highness is so happy to get to know you that you are constantly missing you in your heart. The Japanese scholar Izumi Hisanosuke translated it from astrology or Malay: I pray to you, Prince, I pray to you, I have met the great prince. You, great prince, righteous prince, noble prince, I am so happy, I obey you faithfully, let all people prosper, I have loved you for a long time. Zhuang scholar Wei Qingwen translated it from Zhuang: Tonight. This is the prince who is sitting in the middle of the boat at night. The prince comes to welcome me and appreciates me. The villain is grateful. I don’t know when the prince and the villain will play again. The villain’s heart feels.
Version 2.
The article "A Hypothetical Translation of "Yue People's Song"" in the September 25, 2007 issue of "Journal of Shaoxing University of Arts and Sciences" used the rough Shaoxing dialect to interpret "Yue People's Song" based on Chu's translation and Zheng Zhang Shangfang's translation. Literal translation of "People's Song": Night, what a wonderful night. I help the prince and I paddle the boat. I really want to be close to you. Who can tell me my thoughts? ? "Yueren Song" is an ancient folk song of the Zhuang-Dong language people in ancient China. "Shuoyuan·Shanshuo Pian" records: In 528 BC, Yin E Yin Zixi, the commander of the State of Chu, held a grand boat trip. Yun. At the grand ceremony, a Yue singer sang to E Jun. A Yue person who understood Chu language translated to Zi Xi: "What evening is this?" The middle stream of Piaozhou, what day will it come today? Gotta ride with the prince. Being humiliated and treated well is not shameful. My heart was troubled and unstoppable, and I learned about the prince. There are trees in the mountains, and the trees have branches. My heart is happy for you, but you don’t know it.
"Zixi was moved by the sincere singing. According to the etiquette of the Chu people, she put her hands on the Yue people's shoulders and solemnly draped a silk quilt full of beautiful patterns on him. According to linguists' research , the language of "Yueren Song" may be related to the Zhuang language, so it can also be said that it is an ancient Zhuang song, which clearly expresses the gratitude of the Yue people to E Jun, indicating that Chu. The intimate relationship between the Yue people. This poem has certain value in the study of national history, national language and literary history.

Regarding "Yue People's Song", There are two theories: One: "Song of the Yue People" is said to be the first translated poem in China. The gentleman of E was boating in the river. The Yue girl who was rowing admired him and sang a song in Yue. The gentleman of E asked someone to sing Chu. It was translated into Chinese as this beautiful love poem. Some people say that after E Jun understood the song and understood Yue Nu's heart, he took her back with a smile (Xi Murong's poem "On the Dark River"). 》) Second: This is an ancient folk song from the Zhuang-Dong language people in ancient China. In 528 BC, the Chu State ordered Yin Ejunzixi to hold a grand boat trip, where hundreds of officials and gentry were crowned like clouds. A Yue singer sang to Mr. E. A Yue man who understood Chu language translated to Zixi: "What evening is this?" The middle stream of Piaozhou, what day will it come today? Gotta ride with the prince. Being humiliated and treated well is not shameful. My heart was troubled and unstoppable, and I learned about the prince. There are trees in the mountains, and the trees have branches. My heart is happy for you, but you don’t know it. "Zixi was moved by the sincere singing. According to the etiquette of the Chu people, she put her hands on the Yue people's shoulders, and solemnly draped a silk quilt full of beautiful patterns on him.
< p>Edit this paragraph "Yue People's Song" InterpretationYue People's Song: I am the branch that your brocade clothes brush. In 540 BC, Dongting was misty and misty, and the jade world was surrounded by 30,000 hectares of green mountains and white water. Suddenly, the song "Yueren Song" was murmuring and lingering. It was like looking up at the moonlight in front of the window when I was a child. It was so bright that there was no trace of human fireworks. The man standing on the side and looking at it was the prince of the Chu Kingdom. Xiba - the prince of E-yi, he is extremely elegant and aloof. You see him riding a small boat in the cave, with brocade sleeves fluttering on the bow, and the daughter of the Yue people who is rowing for him hangs low on the shore. The willows, the rippling blue waves of the boat oars, and the circles of ripples that have just dispersed and started to stir again, seem like the entangled thoughts of the Yue girl. The red lotus roots in the light boat, the waves of Zhiting, you can listen to her singing softly - What evening is this night? , I am in the middle of Zhaizhou. I have to be in the same boat with the prince. I am embarrassed and embarrassed. You don’t know that like the little bamboo shoots that broke out of the rubble, they broke free from the shackles of the rubble and suddenly said: How honored I am to be on the boat with you, and I adore you. , but you don’t know. The Yue girl carefully sang a song, singing her own grace and love, like the water plants swaying as the oars passed by. She was resentful but not sad, and there were no eyebrows and thousands of tears, but some secret joy and joy. Release - The river is long and the boats are cruising. In this boundless white water, I lift up a worried heart from the bottom of the lake. The water is still wet and appears in front of you. At this moment, this is what I am thinking about. "Song of the Yue People" is a hopeless and lonely song. More than two thousand years ago, Yue girls sang it happily and shyly on the bow of Zixi's boat. Now, I send this song to you who admire me. The secret of "Xin Yue Jun Xi" is hidden in my heart, so that I can begin to describe your vague appearance [1]. You are a high-ranking prince, and I am a branch brushed by your brocade clothes, and I have been contaminated by you from now on. Sad. If God has mercy on me, I will support you once more and humbly accompany you on the blue waves. It is not easy to meet someone you look up to. What more can I ask for? , Look at me.

Translation 1
What kind of day is it today? I am driving a boat on the Yangtze River. What kind of day is it today? I am able to go boating with the prince, and the prince appreciates it! He does not dislike me because of my status as a boatman, and even scolds me because I am so nervous that I can't stop. Live, because I know he is actually a prince! There are trees on the mountain, and there are branches on the trees, but I love the prince so much, but the prince doesn’t know it.
Translation 2
Tonight. What a night it is, I can paddle on this continent; What a day it is, I am lucky enough to be in the same boat with the prince. So shy and sentimental, despite the criticism and shame, how obsessed I am with my longing to see the prince. There are trees in the mountains, and the trees have branches. I love you in my heart, but you don’t know it. In 1991, Mr. Zheng Zhang Shangfang once again deciphered the Chinese pronunciation of "Yueren Song" from Thai. Thai is the national language of Thailand and belongs to the Taiwanese branch of the Dong-Taiwan language family along with Zhuang language. Unlike other languages ??of the Taiwanese branch, Thai has a pinyin script that has been used for more than 700 years - Thai. "Thai has the oldest verified form among Thai and other Thai languages." Therefore, based on written Thai, he compared the ancient pronunciation of phonetic Chinese characters to elaborate on the original Thai meaning word by word. When constructing the ancient pronunciation of Chinese characters, he used an ancient pronunciation system he created. When deciphering, like Wei Qingwen, he divided the phonetic Chinese characters into five sentences, but the position of the sentence segments was completely different from Wei Qingwen's.
The following is the new Chinese translation of "Yueren Song" he reported. The original text was in English, translated into Chinese by Sun Lin and Shi Feng, and reprinted in the seventh volume of "Language Research Series" published in 1997 on pages 57-65: Night, the night of joyful meetings! How shy I am and how good I am at rocking the boat. Slowly rowing the boat across, full of love! Dirty me, my dear prince, I actually know each other. Hidden deep in my heart is my unwavering longing for you. Later, based on the research of the above-mentioned linguists, Mr. Zhou Liuxi made special reference to Zheng Zhang Shangfang's translation, compared it with the Chu translation, used living materials of the Zhuang and Dong languages, and referred to other Yue ethnic minority languages ??such as Shui language and Dai language. , Buyi language, etc., reconstructed the ancient phonetic sounds, obtained the maximum number of ancient Yue words in deciphering, and restored the full text of "Yue Ren Song" with the help of cognate words in ancient Chinese. The advantage of this method is that it cannot be matched by just one language deciphering. Therefore, the result of his interpretation is relatively close to the original appearance of the Yue people's song. Today's translation of Zhou Liuxi: The grass is overflowing, "What night is it tonight, Piaozhou (boat) is in the middle of the river?" (What kind of good day is it to steer a boat in the river tonight?) Chang Pangze is in Changzhou Prefecture, "What day is it today?" The sun is coming, I have to be in the same boat with the prince!" (Which one should I be in the same boat with? With you, the prince) "I am ashamed to be loved by Qin Xuxu." (Thank you for your kindness and appreciation. I am extremely ashamed.) Man Yuhuzhao said, "My heart is so stubborn that I know the prince." (How I wish I knew the prince! [I finally met him today.]) Chan Qin Yuexan said, "There are trees in the mountains. "The trees have branches;" (There are groves of trees on the mountains, and branches of the bamboo trees.) Follow the rivers and lakes. "My heart says (pleasure) that you are here, but you don't know." (Did you know? I admire you very much in my heart.) We can see that the translations by Zheng Zhang Shangfang and Zhou Liuxi are the closest to the Chu translation, especially Interpretation of two sentences that are difficult to understand in the Chu translation: First, "I am ashamed to be treated well, but I am not ashamed" (Yue pronunciation: Zhou Yanhu Qin Xuxu), Zhou translated it as "Thanks to your kindness and appreciation." The famous poet Xi Murong has a poem "On the Dark River", which was written after reading "The Song of the Yue People". I personally think that Xi Murong should also include this poem in the entry of "The Song of the Yue People" . Every line in the poem seems to speak to the softest part of the human heart...
On the Dark River - After Reading "Yueren Song"
(Author: Xi Murong)
Text
The lights are bright What a beautiful night it is that you come with a smile and slowly guide me to the other shore (Today and evening, I will be in the same boat as the prince). That rising tide is the love that is rising in my chest. How beautiful it is. And in this chaotic night, please forgive me. I have to sing and call out to the starry sky that looks down at me. The starry sky is not as dazzling as you sitting on the bow of the ship. I almost mistakenly believe that I can have the happiness that is close to me from a humble corner. Looking up at the rippling water from a distance, no one can understand my sadness (I am ashamed to be so embarrassed, and I am so ashamed that I am troubled and anxious to learn about the prince) All lives don’t know how to dodge or escape before being trapped, but in such a beautiful place There is a desire hidden in the night, but I will never allow it. I just want to get the moment of love and affection where your eyes wander. From my heart to my skin, I am a moth running toward the hot flames. After burning, I will turn into ashes. But if I refuse to burn, I will go there. What can I have left in the end, except for a heart that is gradually getting rough, gradually breaking, and gradually losing its luster in the dust? So I rushed toward the fire and toward the temptation set by fate in the dark, with my clear and clear songs and my sincere poems. I will prepare you to the best of my life as a meek and shy woman. In legends, they like to add a happy ending. Only I know how I watched you go away through the mist-wet reeds (The mountains have trees) The trees have branches and my heart is full of joy. You don’t know) When the lights gradually go out and the song stops on the dark river, everything you have left behind can only become your past and my last night that are quietly recited by many people under the starry sky.
