From the poetry creation and poetry theory of Tang people, we can clearly know that metrical poetry was formed in the early Tang Dynasty. Although there was a certain tendency of metrical poetry from the Book of Songs, the most critical period for the formation of metrical poetry was the Southern Dynasties and the early Tang Dynasty. The five-character metrical poem system, which marked the stereotype of metrical poems, was formally formed in the early Tang Dynasty, which caused a series of chain reactions: the five-character four-sentence short poem popular in the Six Dynasties developed into a short five-character quatrain in the early Tang Dynasty; The seven-character poem that started in the Six Dynasties became seven-character and seven-rhythm in the early Tang Dynasty. Coupled with the arrangement of more than ten sentences, metrical poetry, which is called "modern poetry", is completely independent. The accomplishment of metrical style is an important event in the development history of China's ancient poetry. The appearance of modern poetry is the inevitable result of natural laws and development. It not only enriches the style of poetry, but also gives poets more choices when creating. It also enabled the poets at that time to express their thoughts and feelings more fully, reflected the subsequent social problems, and had a great influence on the original poetic form. From ancient style to new style is an important development of poetry. If the new poetry produced in the new culture movement is boldly incorporated into the torrent of this poetry development, then the new poetry will also be one of the changes of the new style poetry. So, what are the ancient and modern poems? What's new and old? This requires looking at all kinds of poetic styles, and must not be partial to one another. Poets can choose the most familiar poetic style to express their thoughts.
Of course, this does not mean that we can use all kinds of poetic styles at will and disrupt all kinds of restrictions and boundaries between them. While distinguishing various poetic styles, we can boldly innovate and use them flexibly. For example, when we write ancient physique poems, we blindly emphasize the rhyme of the poems and ignore the actual needs, which will inevitably lead to the disadvantages of simply pursuing colorful words and ignoring the content. Innovation, or rather, is not limited to models. The achievements of the ancients have long existed. For example, Jiangxi sent people to use words, and Zuyong's exam-oriented poems did not follow the norms, but only tried his best; The new Chinese rhyme created by modern people is also an example of innovation. Therefore, in my opinion, to write ancient physique poems without innovation, firstly, we should abide by the law of success and maintain the simple style of poems, mainly not to break the bottom line of metrical poems; Second, we should have a new style, be innovative in form, and focus on new things, meteorology and life in content, so as to distinguish it from the homesickness and landscapes of the ancients.
