The discovery of Shouyi Temple Poetry Collection is an important event in the history of literature and poetry in Chengde. It fills the gap that there was no published poetry in Chengde before the founding of New China, and it is the earliest published poetry collection in Chengde. Zhang Bailing (1748— 18 16), the author of Poems, was born in Zhenghuangqi, Han army, and is now from Zhang Sanying, Longhua County. Copy of Poems in Shouyi Temple was edited by Xin Wei in the 16th year of Qing Jiaqing (18 1 1). Zhang Bailing was not only the first senior official to leave Chengde, but also a famous poet who left Chengde for the whole country after Liu Ang, a famous national poet in Jin Dynasty who ruled xing zhou (now Longhua County).
