Sitting alone in the secluded bamboo, playing the piano and whistling loudly. People deep in the forest don't know that the bright moon comes to shine.
You Huang: You means deep, and Huang means bamboo forest. Whistling: A long, crisp sound is made from the mouth, similar to whistling. Deep forest: refers to the deep forest. Xiangzhao: Corresponds to sitting alone, which means sitting alone in the dark bamboo with no one to accompany you, only the bright moon seems to understand people's thoughts.
Wang Wei, courtesy name Mojie, was a famous poet in the prosperous Tang Dynasty. He rose to the rank of Shangshu Youcheng. He was originally from Qi and moved to Puzhou. He believed in Buddhism and lived in Wangchuan Villa in Lantian in his later years. He is Han nationality. He is good at painting figures, bamboos, and landscapes. He was a representative of the Landscape Pastoral School in the Tang Dynasty, a Jinshi of Kaiyuan, and served as officials such as Dalecheng and Youshiyi. During the Anlushan Rebellion, he was forced to take up a pseudo-office.
His achievements in both poetry and painting were very high. Su Dongpo praised him for the painting within his poetry and the poetry within the painting. In particular, he was most accomplished in landscape poetry. Together with Meng Haoran, he was known as Wang Meng. In his later years, he had no intention of pursuing an official career and dedicated himself to worshiping Buddhism. Therefore, later generations called him the Buddha of Poetry.

Wang Wei had positive political ambitions in his early years, hoping to accomplish a great cause. Later, when the political situation changed, he gradually became depressed and began to eat fast and chant Buddha's name.
When he was in his forties, he specially built a villa in Wangchuan, Lantian County, southeast of Chang'an, and lived a semi-official and semi-hidden life on Zhongnan Mountain. The poem "Wangchuan Leisurely Presents to Pei Xiu Caidi" is a chapter in his secluded life. The main content is "statement of aspirations" and describes the poet's desire to stay away from the world and continue to live in seclusion.
The scenery described in the poem is not deliberately laid out, it is natural and fresh, as if it were picked up at hand, and the distant scenery can be seen by itself, which is a great legacy of Yuanming. Wang Wei's achievements in poetry are multifaceted.
