How to teach children to write poetry?

There is an article "Three Short Poems" written by Bing Xin in the second volume of the Chinese language for the fourth grade of primary school. When teaching, I couldn't help but think: Why is Bing Xin's poems placed in the second stage of school? At this time, I thought that I had chosen Rabindranath Tagore's "The School of Flowers" for the first volume of the third grade, and my eyes suddenly lit up.

Bing Xin’s original name was Xie Wanying. Her poetry creation was influenced by Rabindranath Tagore’s "Birds". She mentioned in the article "How I wrote "Stars" and "Spring Water": "I wrote "The Birds" by myself. When I wrote "Stars" and "Spring Water", I was not writing poetry. I was just influenced by Rabindranath Tagore's "Birds" and collected many of my "fragmented thoughts" into a collection."

In the autumn of 1920, Bing Xin wrote affectionately in the article "A Sent to the Indian Philosopher Rabindranath Tagore": "A book accidentally introduced you to me, and I finished reading your biography and poems - without thinking about anything else, I just I feel deeply clear...Thank you for curing my natural sadness with your beautiful poetry; thank you for soothing the loneliness of my soul with your excellent philosophy."

I read a book called "The Birds" by accident. "Collection" created a sense of tacit understanding and romance, which led Bing Xin to compile fragmented thoughts into a poem, which later produced "Stars" and "Spring Water", creating the unique beauty of Bing Xin's poetry and literature in the Chinese literary world. At that time, Bing Xin did not know that Tagore was so famous. Rabindranath Tagore was the first non-Westerner to win the Nobel Prize for Literature. His poetry collections are also deeply loved by Chinese writers such as Xu Dishan, Guo Moruo, and Zheng Zhenduo. And such a famous poet also likes the "Tao Te Ching" written by Chinese Lao Tzu, and he also quotes the words of the "Tao Te Ching" many times in his works.

If Bing Xin met Tagore's works and wrote "Stars" because of cultural exchanges and innovations, perhaps Tagore was also inspired by a certain work to write "The Birds". Presuming further, there may be many origin stories that were influenced by words and literature... If we look further, Bing Xin's works will also have a wonderful inheritance and integration with many Chinese children.

In the current reality, I took my students to study Bing Xin’s poems, and the students followed the poetic meaning and created touching poems:

It carves a poem for lazy children/ A stupid turtle/carrying heavy sighs/crawling behind is very distressed

It carves a big red horse for the diligent children/who always has four hooves flying every day/runs ahead of others (Zhang Miller "Time")

The pouring water/is like falling from the sky/beating the smooth stones/playing a wonderful symphony/the leaping water splash/forming a clear lake (Chen Jiahang's "Waterfall")

This may be a kind of cultural inheritance and literary influence. As a teacher, we should not only lead students to study Bing Xin's "Stars", but also open a window and lead students to write about the "stars" in their hearts, and bring these "stars" together to weave a beautiful The night sky... A few years later, when they watch their works being recorded and collected, the innocence of childhood will definitely be reawakened - the little girl is cute, the boy is sunny, and words are the best witness. , the once shining "poetic heart" may be the "rising star" heading into the future.

"Knowledge" cannot speak, and poetry cannot "educate", but its influence is subtle. "Sneaking into the night with the wind, moistening things silently", educating people means planting excellent culture in the heart, and then waiting for the flowers to bloom.
