Koike's author

The author of Koike is Yang Wanli.

Spring eyes are silent and cherish the trickle, and the shade of the trees shines on the water and loves to be clear and soft. The delicate lotus flower bud shows a sharp corner from the water, and a naughty little dragonfly stands on its head.

Spring eyes are silent because they can't stand the thin water flow, and the shade reflects the water because it likes sunny days and the softness of the wind. The delicate little lotus leaf just emerged from the water with a sharp corner, and a naughty little dragonfly had already stood on it.

Koike's creative background

Xiaochi is contained in the seventh volume of Chengzhai Collection and Jianghu Collection. The poems recorded in this collection are basically arranged according to the time of employment and the order of seasons. Koike's eighth poem is Ice Shen Sui Tide.

"Shen Bing" refers to Xichun's third year in Song Xiaozong (1 176), and "Sui Dynasty" refers to the first day of the first lunar month, so the poem "Xiaochi" was written after the Spring Festival of that year. Koike's first and second poems are "Summer quatrains" and "Light rain in late spring", which shows that these two poems were written in late spring and early summer. The fifth poem after Koike is entitled "Fishing for Sesshū Tōyō in Summer", which shows that the author still lives in the study of "Fishing for Sesshū Tōyō" in Jishui on that extremely hot day.

In Jishui, even in Jiangxi and Hunan, the first time the lotus blooms is in the early May of the lunar calendar. According to the words "shade tree", "river" and "sharp corner" in the poem "Xiaochi", it can be inferred that the creation time of this poem should be at the beginning of May in the third year of Xichun (1 176). Its creation place is in Jishui County, and the "small pond" in the title refers to the big pond in front of "Father and Son Hou Di" in Yang Wanli's former residence.
