Yi Jiangnan Jiangnan Hao
Tang Dynasty: Bai Juyi
The scenery in Jiangnan is very beautiful, and the picturesque scenery has long been familiar. When spring comes, the sun rises from the river, the flowers on the river are brighter than red, and the green river is greener than the blue grass. How can we make people not miss Jiangnan?

Creation background
Bai Juyi was the secretariat of Hangzhou for two years, and later he was the secretariat of Suzhou for more than a year. When he was young, he roamed the south of the Yangtze River and lived in Suzhou and Hangzhou. He knew Jiangnan like the back of his hand, so he was deeply impressed. When he returned to Luoyang for more than ten years after retiring from Suzhou, he wrote these three "Memories of Jiangnan".
Literary appreciation
The poet expressed his thoughts at the beginning and blurted out his praise for "Good Jiangnan". In order to show that he is not a parrot, the poet immediately explained that "the scenery was once familiar", which he personally experienced, felt, was very familiar with and deeply understood in those years ("old" and "once"). What is the poet's impression of Jiangnan scenery? "At sunrise, the river is redder than fire, and in spring, the river is as green as blue." The poet firmly grasped the characteristics of early spring in Jiangnan, and connected the spring flowers in Jiangnan with the water in Jiangnan, which can be said to capture the essence of Jiangnan beauty. In order to express a broader artistic conception in a limited sentence, the poet skillfully uses intertextuality to interweave the words "sunrise" and "spring", and presents the beautiful scenery of Jiangnan water town to readers. The spring breeze is mighty, the flowers are in full bloom, and the mountains and plains are full of colors. Under the reflection of the morning sun, the flowers in the shade are redder and more dazzling. Du Fu has a poem saying that "the blue and white flowers in the mountains are burning". But what Bai Juyi is talking about here is "river flowers" instead of "mountain flowers", which highlights that "flowers come to burn" is more colorful and "red wins fire" against the clear water of a river. The riverside is green, and the golden sunshine is all over the earth. The spring is bright, the lush trees on both sides of the river are reflected on the river, and the water surface is more green. Due to the morning sunshine, the addition of water green enhances the brightness of the color. Because the red of mountain flowers and the green of river water set off each other and enhanced the distinctiveness of colors, the red ones are redder and the green ones are greener, that is, "red is better than fire" and "green is like blue". And the flow of a river and spring water makes all this staggered, varied, dazzling and beautiful in the sense of movement. This is Jiangnan in the poet's permanent memory. If its beauty is like this, the poet says from the heart, "Can you not remember Jiangnan?"
This word describes the spring scenery in Jiangnan, and the first sentence is "Jiangnan is good". With a simple and vivid word "good", I captured all the beauty of spring scenery in the south of the Yangtze River, and the author's praise and yearning were also included. At the same time, only because the "good" is very good can we "remember" endlessly. Therefore, this sentence has been secretly ridiculed, and it is linked to the sentence "Can you not remember Jiangnan?" The second sentence "I used to be familiar with the scenery" points out that the "good" scenery in the south of the Yangtze River is not a rumor, but the author's personal experience and personal feelings when he went out to graze in Hangzhou. This not only implements the word "good", but also takes care of the word "memory", which is a wonderful pen and ink to communicate the meaning of an article. Three or four sentences vividly interpret the "goodness" of Jiangnan, highlighting the bright colors of jianghua and the red and green rivers, giving people a dazzling impression. Among them, there are contrasts between the same color and different colors, which fully shows the author's good coloring skills. At the end of the article, the whole poem is collected with "Can you forget Jiangnan", which not only expresses the infinite admiration and nostalgia of the author born in Luoyang for the spring scenery in Jiangnan, but also creates a long and lasting charm, which brings the reader into a tearful realm.
