In the second year of Tang Jingzong Baoli (826), Liu Yuxi was transferred back to Luoyang to work in Shangshu Province, the eastern capital. In the first year of Kaicheng (836), he was appointed as the guest and secretary of the Prince's seat and supervised Dongdu Company. Until his later years, Liu Yuxi often made friends with friends Bai Juyi, Pei Du and Wei Zhuang in Luoyang, singing and laughing, and lived a leisurely life.
In May of the second year of Kaicheng (837), Xin Wei coincided with Niu Senru's staying in the eastern capital, building a villa in the southern part of Luoyang, and setting up strange stones in Huainan, planting a large number of peonies. Niu Senru often sings poems and enjoys flowers in the court with poets Bai Juyi and Liu Yuxi. This poem was written by Liu Yuxi at this time.
