The verses of Moon and Stars are as follows:
1. The moon is setting, the crows are crying, the sky is full of frost, the river maples are fishing and the fire is sleeping in sorrow. At Hanshan Temple outside Gusu City, the bell rang for the passenger ship at midnight.
Translation:
The moon has set and the crows are crows, the sky is filled with cold air. Facing the maple trees by the river and the fishing fires on the boats, I feel sad and unable to sleep. The bells ringing at the Hanshan Ancient Temple outside Suzhou City in the middle of the night reached the passenger ship I was traveling on.
Appreciation:
After the Anshi Rebellion in the Tang Dynasty, Zhang Ji wrote this traveling poem when he passed by Hanshan Temple. This poem accurately and delicately describes the observation and feelings of a passenger boat berthed at night on the late autumn night scene in the south of the Yangtze River. It outlines the sceneries of the setting moon and crows, frosty cold nights, river maples and fishing fires, and lonely boats and passengers. In addition, this poem also fully expresses the author's thoughts about traveling, worries about home and country, and concerns about being in troubled times and not having a destination. It is a representative work of writing about sorrow.
The whole poem has vivid images that can be felt and painted, the logical relationship between sentences is very clear and reasonable, and the content is clear and easy to understand.
2. There is bright moonlight in front of the bed, which is suspected to be frost on the ground. Raise your head to look at the bright moon, lower your head to think about your hometown.
Translation:
Beside the bed is the light of the bright moon, which is really like a piece of white frost. I look up at the bright moon and lower my head to miss my hometown.
Appreciation:
This poem describes the homesickness of looking at the moon on an autumn night. It is simple in meaning and deeply touching. It is the most recited poem by Li Bai by future generations. The translation of these four poems is as follows: In the autumn night, the bright moonlight shone in front of my bed. I thought it was the frost on the ground; I raised my head and stared at the moon on the mountainside, but I couldn't help but lower my head and miss my hometown. Wanderers in foreign lands often like to recite this poem on nights when the moon is shining brightly, and homesickness arises spontaneously.
3. A pot of wine among the flowers, drinking alone without any blind date. Raise a glass to invite the bright moon, and make three people in the shadows. The moon doesn't know how to drink, and its shadow follows me. For now, the moon will be shadowed, and we must have fun until spring. My singing moon lingers, my dancing shadows are scattered. They make love when they are awake, but they disperse when they are drunk. We will travel together forever, and we will meet each other in Miao Yunhan.
Translation:
Put a pot of fine wine among the flowers, and I drink it by myself, without any relatives or friends around me. Raise the glass to the sky, invite the bright moon, face my shadow, and we become three people. The bright moon cannot understand the joy of drinking and drinking, and its shadow can only silently follow me around. I can only stay with the bright moon and clear shadows for the time being, and take advantage of this beautiful scenery to feel the heart of spring. I recite poems, the moon wanders with me, my hands and feet dance, and the shadows follow me.
When I am sober, I share the joy with you. When you are drunk (referring to drinking the wine in the cup), you (myself in the wine) will never be found again. Let us form an eternal friendship and gather together impromptuly in this vast and elegant poem.
Appreciation:
Li Bai loved wine very much. Li Bai loved the moon very much. Perhaps it was the catalysis of wine that caused the wine fairy to pour out his poetry; perhaps it was the mystery of the moon that induced the poetic fairy to burst out with strange thoughts. Drinking alone under the moon, raising a glass to soothe sorrow and make it worse, is a very lonely, depressing, lonely and boring thing, but the author "raised a glass to the bright moon, facing the shadow and became three people", singing, dancing and drinking drunkenly, it was really lively!
The moon and the shadow are originally ignorant and ruthless things, but the author insists on them "the moon wanders", "the shadows are scattered" and "makes love with each other", and swears to "eternally be together without mercy". Compared with the despicable and dirty world, it can be said that "ruthlessness" is better than "affection". Sun Zhu commented: "The title text is written alone, and the poem is made up of three people. The moon and shadow accompany the story. After repeated deliberation, it becomes more and more unique.
