In 1998, she attended the Eighth National Congress of Chinese Women. He was successively elected as a member of the 8th Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and a representative of the 10th Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress. In 2002, he was elected as the ninth deputy chairman of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the China Democratic League. In 2005, he was co-elected as a member of the ninth Central Committee of the China Democratic League. In 2007, he was re-elected as the tenth deputy chairman of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the China Democratic League. In 1999, he was selected into the first level of Zhejiang Province’s “151 Talent Project”. Received special government allowance from the State Council in 2006.

Mainly engaged in research on medieval Chinese vocabulary and exegesis, and has chaired or participated in more than ten national key research projects. He is the author of "Explanation of Medieval Chinese Vocabulary" (co-operated with Fang Yixin, Changchun: Jilin Education Press, 1992), "Middle Chinese Reader" (co-operated with Fang Yixin, Changchun: Jilin Education Press, 1993), "Chinese "Manuscripts on the Poetry Language of the Wei and Six Dynasties" (Xi'an: Shaanxi People's Education Press, 1997), "Research on the Poetry of the Six Dynasties" (Harbin: Heilongjiang Education Press, 1999), editor-in-chief of "Research on Medieval Chinese" (cooperated with Fang Yixin, Beijing : The Commercial Press, 2000), "Research on Medieval and Modern Chinese" (Shanghai Education Press, 2000), "History of Medieval Chinese Vocabulary" (Beijing: The Commercial Press, 2010), "Manuscripts on Medieval Chinese" (Beijing: Zhonghua Book Company , 2011) etc.

He has won many awards including the Wang Li Linguistics Award of Peking University, the Outstanding Social Science Achievement Award of the Ministry of Education, and the Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government Award. He has been invited to conduct academic exchanges in Canada, the United States, Japan, France, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and other countries and regions many times.
