Prose of the Qin Opera Tribe on the Loess Plateau

Speaking of Qin Opera, it is a type of opera that has been popular in the loess land of northwest China for thousands of years. Its roars are like thunder, fully displaying the generosity and enthusiasm of the plateau people. In my childhood memory, the most profound impact was the era of eight model operas. In 1973, the troupe of the Daliushu Troupe represented Xinsi Commune and won second place in the county at the Zhangxian Art Performance. At that time, in addition to having good food and good clothes, I also looked forward to watching Qin Opera during the New Year, which was the busiest time in rural areas. One year, the school organized students to visit and study at the farmland capital construction site. It happened to be a meeting, and the teacher asked me to sing Qin Opera. I sang arias by Li Yuhe and Yang Zirong consecutively, which attracted applause.

After the resumption of performances of traditional plays in 1977, traditional plays such as "Three Drops of Blood", "The Injustice of Dou E" and "The Case of Guillotine" followed. Attracted by the Qin Opera, many theater troupes emerged in nearby villages. Not only the Chinese New Year, but also traditional festivals or material exchange conferences held in market towns, there is always a Qinqiang opera. People often walk more than ten kilometers at night, traveling from one village to another town to watch a play. In this literary spring, people's enthusiasm is extremely high. A few years later, I went out to Xinjiang and occasionally returned to my hometown. I could no longer see the singing and watching operas. The roar of Qin opera had almost disappeared in the villages.

In the winter of 2019, I came to work in Huining County, a famous county in Gansu Province. I was walking in the central square of the county town. I heard Qin Xianglian’s Qin Opera arias in the distance. Looking for the past, I found that someone was practicing at the music training center. , thinking that there are still people interested. A few days later, I caught up with the Xuandi Palace temple fair on the street. The audience had been waiting there early with folding benches. The poster introduced that the Qin Opera Troupe from Dingxi City was invited. One day, an event was held in the newly-built Hantang Street Square. As the crowds rushed away, I heard my husband roaring in the distance. The majestic roar of the mountains, the echo of the plateau and the roar of Qin opera were perfectly combined. I was really shocked. It turned out to be a commemoration event for the 80th anniversary of the Red Army’s Long March, and famous actors and actresses from Gansu Province came to perform.

During the days when I was working and living in Huining, whether it was a big real estate promotion or a small store opening, it was indispensable to invite large theater troupes or small theater troupes to perform. Whenever night falls, under the bright lights, you can hear the roar of the Qin Opera with loud gongs and drums at any time. If you have this hobby, tell the host directly, show off your literary and artistic talents, and make you rich and famous. , send you red envelopes, attract applause, and gain respect.

Nowadays, it is difficult to hear Qin Opera in most places, but Qin Opera is still rooted in the hot land of Huining, making the ancient art of Qin Opera enduring. Huining can be said to be a masterpiece on the Loess Plateau. The Qin Opera tribe wishes Qin Opera to sing across the Loess Plateau and wishes for a better life.
