In the preface to Xie Bingxin's Translation of Poems, he wrote: "Gitanjali means' to offer a poem' in Hindi, and we seem to hear the dense raindrops and smell the rich flowers." In people's impression, Tagore appeared as a great singer and philosopher, just like the protagonist "I" in Chittaglia, dignified and affectionate. "I" is introspective and thoughtful, which in turn reflects Tagore's three different temperament: religious belief, sensitivity to art, shrewdness and judgment on practical work.
