Introduction to Dai Zhangha
It is also translated as a compliment to the Dai people, meaning someone who can sing. It is not only the title of a singer, but also the name of a genre as a form of Quyi performance. Zhangha, a native of A Dai, rose in the middle of15th century and spread in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture and Dai villages in Jiangcheng, Menglian and Jinggu of Simao City.
The Dai people's recitation and singing are organically combined, and their singing is soft and lyrical, smooth and melodious, with strong national customs. Representative plays include Langasi River and Usha Rome. Zhangha is a popular and indispensable form of cultural entertainment for the Dai people, and it is an important carrier to inherit the Dai history and culture.
On May 20th, 2006, with the approval of the State Council, Zhangha, a Dai declared by Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, was included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list, with the project number ⅴ-44.
Dai people have a long history in Zhanghe. There is a saying among the Dai people: "Where there are Dai people, there are songs of the Dai people, and where there are songs of the Dai people, there are Zhangha", which is one of the most dynamic art categories in the traditional art of the Dai people. It germinated in the primitive hunting economy period, and it was recorded in the Dai Poetry.
