/kloc-in the mid-1980s, a science and technology park named "Australia Center" was established within the scope of Australia Avenue (now Herb Elliott Avenue and Sarah Durack Avenue). However, except for a few high-tech enterprises, such as AWA Microelectronics, BASF, Philips and Sanyo, the idea of a science park has never been realized. The Australian Science Park is now located in Avery. Anyway, ten years later, the whole area has become the venue of the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
Most of the Sydney Olympic Park used to be an industrial wasteland, which witnessed a hundred years of industrial and military speculation. It used to be the site of brick factories, slaughterhouses, weapons warehouses and eight garbage dumps in Sydney.
After the successful completion of the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000, the Sydney Olympic Park has undergone a lot of reconstruction work, and now it has been transformed into a multi-functional venue, and many activities have moved here. In addition, the long-term plan proposes to build Sydney Olympic Park into an activity base with10.5 million residents, with10.5 million people and students entering and leaving every day.
Sydney Olympic Park is an important base for artistic and cultural activities. There are regular activities, public art gathering (the largest single-site public art gathering in Australia), armory gallery (the largest single-site permanent art exhibition venue in the southern hemisphere), armory activity center and artist studio venue (located in Newington armory).
Recent development
In 2006, the development of Sydney Olympic Park rose again. The first federal bank office building (four buildings in total) is now in the later stage of the project. Sofitel five-star hotel has started construction, and formula 1 two-star hotel is also planned to start construction in 2007.
The educational place is planned to be built in the core of Sydney Olympic Park. However, the bidder wants to build two apartment buildings on the original site. The first batch of residential projects is expected to start in 2007.
In addition, the public land of Sydney Olympic Park was jointly developed with Blacksland Riverside Park (formerly Blacksland Public Park) and transformed into a city park along the Paramata River. The park was opened on March 3, 2007.
