Excerpt 4 of the third grade of "Selected Poems of Ai Qing"
"The Trumpet Blower" is the most touching article I have read in this book.
The trumpeters work harder than the soldiers who fight. From Ai Qing's poem:
"The trumpeter got up from the ground covered with straw. He did not complain that he slept on such wet mud. He tied his leggings quickly, and he After washing his face with ice-cold water, he looked at his companions who were snoring sleepily, so he reached out and took away his horn; it was still dark outside the door, and dawn had not yet come."
It can be seen. They are the first to wake up at dawn. It was still dark, so they used copper horns soaked in blood to sound the dawn of new hope.
He had no complaints, and he even considered it a sacred thing. He looked at the mountain, breathed the fresh air, and blew the brass trumpet. But who could know that behind the loud trumpet sound was the pain of the trumpeter.
"When he rubbed the copper skin of the horn with his own breath to make the horn sound, there would often be invisible blood streaks flying out with the sound of the horn..."
< p>Ai Qing is also a trumpeter who does not hesitate to live. He is not afraid of pain and fatigue, and strives for the new hope of the society at that time. The face of the trumpeter is often pale. At first I thought it was a bit exaggerated, but later on As I read, I gradually came to think that this was normal for them. They were the first to wake up among the sleepy crowd crouching on the straw-strewn ground, among the filthy crowd dressed in gray cloth. In this poem, he created for us the image of a trumpet blower and a copper trumpet soaked in blood in the square of Chinese history, so that we can still hear it clearly today The trumpet that once awakened a nation and inspired it to move forward bravely also demonstrated Ai Qing's patriotic sentiments.
Ai Qing’s poems are breathtaking.
Excerpt 6 of the third grade of "Selected Poems of Ai Qing"
It took two days to read "Selected Poems of Ai Qing" and copied several poems. The overall feeling is that his poetry itself is very inconsistent with people's evaluation of him (or his status in the history of poetry). Most of his poems are not very good, and only a few of them are pretty good. It is said that he should not occupy such a high position in the history of poetry because the personal characteristics of his poetry are not distinctive enough. The style of his poetry is the kind of very common and ordinary poetry. He did not provide many new ideas for new Chinese poetry. things, so the contribution is limited.
After reading Mu Dan's poems, I said that his poems are similar to Du Fu's and can be said to be "history of poetry". So compared with Ai Qing's poems, Ai Qing's poems should have the title of "history of poetry". Noun, one of the characteristics of his poems can be said to be that the subject matter is very broad, but relatively concentrated. In summary, it can be said that he wrote about the joy and pain of the poor and backward China in that era. He went from the Kuomintang-controlled areas to the rear area, from the countryside to The front lines, from the woods to the wilderness, are all shown in his writings, so it is not an exaggeration to say that he recorded such an era. But unfortunately, his records lack personality, or the poetic quality is not enough, at least in many poems. Therefore, the cognitive value and historical value of these poems are not low, but the value of poetry is relatively low. Even his famous long poems such as "Toward the Sun", "Torch", "Hymn to Light", etc. are not particularly good in my opinion.
Another characteristic of Ai Qing's poems is that people like to use adverbs of degree, such as "so", "very", etc., and when describing things, they use sound, color, and shape from all aspects. The same is true when describing and listing things, so this leads to the third characteristic of his poetry, extravagance. He likes to use parallel sentences, sometimes even six or seven of the same sentence pattern, such as "Dayan River - My Nanny". However, his descriptions and metaphors have a shortcoming, that is, there are not many novel ones, and they often use things that are often familiar to everyone. This makes his poems lack something personal, but this may be the reason why his poems are widely spread. The reason is that such poems are popular, easier for the public to accept and appreciate, and easier to get official recognition.
It is undeniable that some of Ai Qing's poems are very good, such as "Snow Falls on the Land of China", he wrote, "The famished earth / towards the dark sky / stretches out begging for help / trembling "Reef", "Its face and body/were like being slashed by a knife/but it still stood there/looking at the ocean with a smile..." What a touching image!
Ai Qing's poems are simple and smooth, but they do not pay much attention to technique or changes in expression, which also affects its aesthetic quality.
