1 April, 9491day, the Kuomintang government attempted to drag on and create a "peace" plot, and sent a delegation to Beijing to hold peace talks with the delegation of the * * * production party. On the same day, more than 6,000 students in Nanjing held a demonstration and demanded that the Kuomintang government accept our party's eight peace conditions. At Chiang Kai-shek's behest, Zhang Yaoming, commander-in-chief of the pseudo-Nanjing garrison, ordered the military and police agents to beat the marching students, killing two students and injuring more than 100 people, which caused the "April 1st Massacre" that shocked the whole country. This wordless couplet was hung at the memorial service for the victims.

More and more question marks indicate that more and more people are questioning the Kuomintang government.

More and more exclamation marks show that the reactionary practices of the Kuomintang reactionaries have aroused more and more people's opposition and accusations.

1April 5, 976, such a couplet appeared in Tiananmen Square where people mourned Premier Zhou Enlai.
