Creation background

"Moonlit Night on the Spring River" is the title of Yuefu's "Five Sounds", which is said to have been written by Chen Houzhu in the Southern Dynasties, but the original words are no longer there. According to Music II of Old Tang Dynasty, Moonlit Night on a Spring River, Flowers in the Garden of Yushu and Tang Tang were written by Chen Houzhu.

Uncle Bao often writes poems with female bachelors and courtiers in the palace, instead of He Xushan, so he chooses those who are particularly gorgeous to write this song. Later, Emperor Yang Di sang this song again. The 47-volume Yuefu Poems collected seven articles on a moonlit night on a spring river, including two by Emperor Yang Di.
