Jingle Bells is a children's song written by james roday pierpont. During the period of 1857, students from Boston Holiday School in the United States held a Thanksgiving concert in the church, which soon became a well-known classic Christmas song.
Two years later, this song was published again, and it was officially named "The One Horse Open Sleepiness".
About the author:
James roday pierpont (April 25th1805-August 5th 1886), the songwriter of Jingle Bells, graduated from Yale University. He obeyed his grandfather's wishes and became a teacher. Because he is always kind and tolerant to students, he lacks strict and conservative education to crowd him out. Pierpont became a lawyer again. He is eager to defend the justice of the law with his own efforts. He disdained the principle that "whoever has money will serve him" which was popular in American lawyers at that time. When he sees that good people are treated unfairly, he always works for them for free, but if the client is a villain, he ignores it even if he is well paid. Naturally, other lawyers can't tolerate pierpont's practice. Soon, he had to leave his position as a lawyer and become a businessman selling textiles. However, in the business field with cruel competition, he always makes his opponents profit and loses himself because of his kindness. Finally, he had to become a priest again, trying to guide people's hearts to be good. However, he was forced to resign because he strongly supported prohibition and opposed slavery, which offended parishioners.
Whenever the relaxed and cheerful melody of Jingle Bells comes to the air at Christmas, people can always think of him. Pierpont probably didn't expect that a work he occasionally worked on in his life would have such great influence, which was in sharp contrast with his personal life experience. In fact, pierpont never gave up his pursuit because of many setbacks in his life. He has always believed that life is beautiful. He is not negative and decadent, nor is he letting himself go. Although he is excluded by people with bad conduct in many fields, it does not mean that his life ideal has lost its value and glory. Life may make people with beautiful ideals suffer, but life will never abandon a beautiful heart, and life always likes beautiful things. It is precisely because of this that this beautiful person can write such beautiful and moving songs, travel through a long time, wash our souls and shake our hearts.
Contrary to popular belief, John pierpont was not the author of this piece of music, nor did he have a very bumpy experience. The existing story comes from "It caught fire when I was lying on it" by Robert Flegham (published in 2006), but the story was strongly criticized at the beginning-because the author distorted history in order to achieve a touching effect and turned Mr. John pierpont into a loser (see appendix for relevant information). In fact, Mr. pierpont is a brilliant poet and a famous educator (see Wikipedia), but his later life is not satisfactory. The story says that he was poor in his early years, which is not in line with the historical facts-1821year, he attracted national attention because of his contribution to the establishment of the Boston English Classical School, and he did not graduate from Yale University-he first studied in Baltimore and then went to Harvard. In addition, he is not mediocre in literature: his poems advocating the abolition of slavery are often recited, and his co-authored plays are warmly welcomed.
