The first four sentences of this poem aim at explaining the origin of the Peach Blossom Garden. Poem 1: Zhao Gao refers to a deer as a horse, which shows that the political affairs in Qin Dynasty were yellow, the power was sidelined, black and white were reversed, and right and wrong were confused; The Great Wall was built and the people died, which shows that the people are not in danger. The following leads to the narrative of Taoyuan seclusion. The four sentences in Lai Lai describe the social life in the Peach Blossom Garden, which is isolated, calm and comfortable, without hierarchy and oppression. The following four sentences in "Yu Lang" describe a scene in which fishermen strayed into Taoyuan and people in Taoyuan lamented the changes of the world. The last four sentences, to borrow the words of Taoyuan people, lament that the world is cold, there is no peace, and the peace and prosperity are gone forever. The last sentence not only reflects the vicissitudes of dynasties, but also implies that monarchies in previous dynasties were similar to the cruel and short-lived Qin Dynasty, echoing the first two sentences from a distance, reflecting the author's lofty ideal of Yao and Shun. Therefore, the significance of the whole poem goes beyond the scope of praising the Peach Blossom Garden and is full of strong realistic spirit.
Since Tao Yuanming chanted the Peach Blossom Garden at the end of Jin Dynasty, there have been endless articles of literati chanting the Peach Blossom Garden. Wang Anshi's "Peach Blossom Garden" is to use this traditional theme to play and recreate it with his own imagination. The whole poem is in contradiction with the tradition of Taoyuan poetry, which always focuses on scene description. It also washed away the immortal breath and focused on the rise and fall of history. It not only expresses dissatisfaction with troubled times, but also expresses yearning for a simple and equal society, which embodies the author's ideal for Yao and Shun and fully embodies the characteristics of politician's poetry.
