Appreciation of poetry can start from many aspects, such as understanding the image of poetry and exploring the artistic conception of poetry. Here, I want to talk about my feelings from the perspective of the relationship between music and poetry.
There must be music in poetry. One is the rhythm of poetry itself. At the same time, as two independent art forms, music and poetry have a unique contrast. Here, I mainly talk about this aspect. With appropriate music as the background, we can set off a harmonious poetic atmosphere, brew corresponding emotions, enrich the expressive force of poetry and enhance the appeal of poetry.
I have heard some poetry readings, mainly love poems. The reading of famous voice actors such as Qiao Zhen, Shichang Da and Cao Lei is the most infectious. On the one hand, these famous artists accurately understood and grasped the emotions of these poems, and at the same time recreated them artistically, enriching the artistic expression of these poems with their reading. The music chosen is also impressive. For example, Dai Wangshu's "Rain Lane", the music sounded, and the crisp rain made people feel the tranquility of the night, and the feeling of loneliness suddenly came to life; Chopin's nocturne was selected in Shu Ting's To Oak, and quiet music emerged. A woman's innocent, independent and persistent monologue of love in the quiet night infected every listener. Petofi's "I would like to be a torrent" opens like a flowing stream, full of joy and persistent and beautiful faith in love. Relatively speaking, lyric poetry is easier to choose music, and you can selectively use light music or appropriate instrumental solos, such as piano, violin, flute and so on.
There are about 38 Chinese and foreign modern and contemporary lyric poems in the third volume of senior high school Chinese textbooks and readers. Some of them are easy to match with music, such as Xu Zhimo's Farewell to Cambridge. I chose Acura, a Hawaiian folk song, as the soundtrack. Acura was originally a farewell song. The music is light and slow, bright and slightly sad, like a sunset. Students will soon be able to enter the countryside, read aloud to the rhythm and integrate into the world of Cambridge. Another example is Haizi's Facing the Sea, Spring Blooms. I chose a light music "Piano on the Waves" with the theme of the sea. The waves beat against the coast, and the fresh and clear light music followed, which is in line with the yearning for a simple, warm and quiet life expressed in this poem. But with the same theme of the sea, this music album is not suitable for Pushkin's To the Sea, because the gentle and quiet style of light music is not enough to express Pushkin's deep thinking and praise for the free spirit symbolized by the sea. For this kind of poetry, the emotional power of light music is not enough, and symphony is more suitable. There is a poem "Praise" by Mu Dan in the textbook, so the second movement of dvorak's "New World Symphony" can be used as its soundtrack. Music shows the wanderers' nostalgia for the new world, and the theme of homesickness, which is cordial, sad, deep and sad, is very consistent with the emotional connotation of Ode. This kind of poetry is full of passion or profound connotation, and its soundtrack is correspondingly magnificent or emotional.
In addition, there is another kind of music that is also a good choice for poetry soundtrack, and that is movie music. Film music itself has a very clear theme and plot, so choosing the right film music for poetry soundtrack will have unexpected effects in setting off the atmosphere and expressing the theme. I still remember the poem "Ah, Captain, My Captain" recited by an American poet Whitman at a New Year's Day literary performance in our school a few years ago. She chose the theme song of Schindler's List. The theme of the poem is so consistent with the theme of music that the reciter accurately grasps and expresses the feelings of the poem, even though it is only a program in the whole happy literary performance.
The essence of music for poetry lies in harmony, and the function of music is to create an atmosphere suitable for the theme and artistic conception of poetry and fully release the appeal of poetry. Therefore, when composing classical poetry, it is more harmonious to choose China traditional ancient songs, which is more in line with the poetic context. The second and third units of Book Three are all China's classical poems, such as The Book of Songs, Chuci, Han and Wei poems, Tang and Song poems, etc. Choosing suitable classical music for them not only strengthens the charm of classical poetry, but also enables modern students to fully appreciate the unique artistic conception of China's classical art. For example, Qu Yuan's Lisao can be composed with guqin music. The unique melancholy and heavy timbre of Guqin and the song "Scratching Your Head and Asking for Heaven" well express Qu Yuan's sorrow and persistence of "sighing for a long time and hiding tears" and "having no regrets after nine deaths". Another example is Bai Juyi's Pipa Trip, in which several pipa songs, such as "Fishing Boat Singing Late" and "House of Flying Daggers", are selected for the wonderful music description, so that students can directly feel what is meant by "big and small pearls in a jade dish", "a stream of water, a silver bottle suddenly breaks" and "four strings are singing together, such as spinning silk", and it will have a good effect to carefully taste its exquisite music description in combination with poetry. In addition, we should also understand the timbre characteristics of different instruments. For example, a quiet flute is more suitable for poems expressing ethereal artistic conception, and its timbre is clearer and clearer, which is suitable for simple and remote. Guzheng and pipa are expressive, soft or rigid, slow or fast. We can choose matching music to create an atmosphere according to the artistic conception and style of poetry, help readers get into the state as soon as possible, and strengthen their full understanding of poetry.
Music and poetry are integrated, and the perfect combination of these two art forms has unlimited imagination. In our poetry teaching, the purpose is to harmoniously contrast the atmosphere of poetry, brew corresponding emotions, enrich the expressive force of poetry, enhance the appeal of poetry and help learners strengthen their understanding of poetry. Among them, poetry is the main body and music is the auxiliary. Of course, if students can enter the world of poetry in different styles of music and enjoy the colorful music world on the wings of notes, our Chinese classroom is like an art stage, so why not?
