Chen Shubao was arrogant and extravagant

Chen Shubao, a figure in the Southern and Northern Dynasties, the last emperor of the Southern Dynasty, during his reign, he neglected the government, Indulging in wine and sex, poetry and music. In 589, the Sui army marched southward and destroyed the Chen Dynasty.

Both empress Chen and Mr. Jiang are masters of composing erotic poems. The erotic poems among the poems written by empress Chen's court literati were mainly concentrated in Yuefu poems. While continuing to use the old Yuefu titles, Empress Chen led the court literati to transform the old Yuefu titles and create works that were different from those of their predecessors. "Flowers in the Backyard of Yushu" is Chen Shubao's masterpiece, which not only shows his high cultural accomplishment, but also vividly displays his arrogance and extravagance. Later this poem was regarded as "the sound of a subjugated country".
