Poetry of the July 20 Incident
Before and after this incident, there were many poems, the most famous of which was "Let me go, Mom! Written by Wu Keqiang, a native of Wuhan. This poem was written in June 1967, just before the July 20 incident. It reflected the fierce and cruel bloody conflict in Wuhan at that time. It highly summarizes and condenses the living conditions of many people and young people in Wuhan and even the whole country in the atmosphere of sports shock and bloody battle. Poems reflecting the large-scale bloody conflicts in Wuhan in the same period include Please Let Go-Dedicated to the comrades who died heroically in the anti-violence struggle (Lvliang, Wuhan), I am walking on the streets of Wuhan (a small war in Wuhan), Ode to the Red Flag Tower (Li Changsheng, Wuhan) and Dawn on that Day (Zhao Hui, Wuhan). These poems reflect the intensity of this conflict from the perspective of "dedication" wholeheartedly.
