On the one hand, Jian 'an poetry inherits the tradition of Han Yuefu folk songs, on the other hand, it develops and transforms them. As far as inheritance is concerned, the five-character poem form produced from Yuefu folk songs in Han Dynasty was widely used by Jian 'an poets and developed into the most basic poem form in Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties.
The language style of Yuefu folk songs also has a great influence on literati poetry. Moreover, works that adopted Yuefu poems and followed the common themes in Yuefu folk songs accounted for a large proportion of literati poems in this period.
Development:
As far as development and transformation are concerned, firstly, Yuefu folk songs, as the main body of previous poems, are a kind of social collective creation. They were originally written by some unknown authors, and changed constantly in the process of circulation, rarely showing the author's personality characteristics.
In the Jian 'an era, there were few works without names. These works related to the author's name are often closely related to the author's personal special experience, emotion and unique aesthetic hobby. This promotes the development of poetry to diversification.
