When I saw and heard my first impression about Erlang Mountain in Shenmu, I thought it was about Erlang Sheep Sword in China mythology.
After reading the introduction of Shenmu Erlang Mountain, I realized that this Erlang Mountain is a story about Erlang's water management.
One of the legends is about Zhao Erlang and Erlang God. According to the inscription of Erlang Mountain Temple, in the Ming Dynasty, because people's production conditions were still very backward, they could not manage the wild river in Shenmu Cave by folk power, so they wanted to use the power of God to manage it. At this moment, I thought of Zhao Yu and Zhao Erlang, the god of water conservancy. Therefore, people built Erlang Temple on the mountain as the main temple on the mountain. Since then, this mountain has been named Erlang Mountain.
Another legend is that Li Erlang, the second son of Li Bing, also made great contributions to the governance of Dujiangyan. After his death, he was named the God of Water Control. So Erlang Temple in Erlang Mountain Temple is Li Erlang. He used his prestige to live by the wild river. Because Li Bing is from Yuncheng, Shanxi, I would rather believe this legend.
That day, I went to Erlang Mountain early in the morning. Because I went early, there were few tourists in the scenic spot. Along the main entrance of the scenic spot, I went up the stairs, and every scenic spot was introduced and photographed. Because I left in a hurry and didn't bring any cash, I couldn't give incense money to every immortal, Buddha and Taoist.
Going up from the front of the mountain and coming down from the back of the mountain, what impressed me most about Erlang Mountain are these points:
First, Erlang Mountain starts from the mountain gate and ends at the last temple of the mountain temple. There are hundreds of rooms, large and small, all built on the mountain or according to the terrain. In short, it is a temple from beginning to end, guarded by Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism.
Second, as the advertisement said, the "Daobei Temple" describes the mountain of Erlang Mountain, which is shaped like a Daobei, narrow at the top and wide at the bottom, and is long.
Thirdly, among many temples, there is the Eight Immortals Cave, which enshrines our hometown Party Lv Dongbin. In Erlang Temple, another local party, Guan Yu, is enshrined.
Fourthly, there is a legend about the worship of immortals in Erlang Mountain Erlang Temple.
According to historical records, it was built in the Ming Dynasty, and it was successively repaired in Wanli, Qingganlong and Daoguang years. There are main halls, left and right halls, bell and drum towers, mountain gates and zhaobi. At first, Erlang God Zhao Yu was the main god of Erlang Temple to save the flood. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty, it was changed to three temples, dedicated to Yang Erlang, Guan Yu and Zhao Gongming. However, the concept of preventing water disasters has not changed. In front of the mountain gate, the water control map of Kowloon on the wall of Zhao Shi reflects people's ideal and desire for water control. Because of the Erlang Temple dedicated to Erlang God, people used to call it Bijia Mountain, or Xishan Mountain, and finally they used to call it Erlang Mountain.
In fact, this is also the main reason why Erlang Mountain is called Erlang Mountain.
There is another legend about the immortals enshrined in Erlang Temple. That is, in order to thank the three Erlang gods, Li, Meng and Zhao, a hall dedicated to these three gods was built at the top of Xishan Mountain in Shenmu City, named "Three Temples".
After decades, people think that these three Erlang gods were originally sent by the Lord God, not their regular posts. When they leave, no one will come to help the river god. So people repaired and rebuilt it, and renamed it Guan, Lang Zhenjun and Hei Hu Lingguan.
When we flew to Yulin to go to Xi 'an, a professor from Taiwan Province asked the driver why he was called Erlang Mountain. The driver said he didn't know, but I generally knew that it was because Erlang Temple was dedicated to the god of water control, and then it was called Erlang Mountain.
