Gift Wang Lun’s poems

Li Bai's ancient poem "Gift to Wang Lun" is as follows:

Li Bai was about to go on a boat, when he suddenly heard the sound of people singing on the shore.

The water in Peach Blossom Pond is a thousand feet deep, not as deep as Wang Lun’s love for me.

Translation: I was on the boat and just about to unmoor and set off when I suddenly heard the melodious sound of singing from the shore. Look at the Peach Blossom Pond, even though it's a thousand feet deep, it can't match Wang Lun's feelings for me.

"To Wang Lun" is a farewell poem written by Li Bai, a great poet of the Tang Dynasty, to his local friend Wang Lun when he visited Peach Blossom Pond in Jing County (now Wannan, Anhui). The first two lines of this poem describe the scene of Wang Lun coming to see Li Bai off by singing songs when Li Bai was about to leave by boat. They simply and naturally express Wang Lun's simple and sincere feelings for Li Bai;

The last two lines first use " "A Thousand Feet Deep" praises the depth of the Peach Blossom Pond, followed by the word "less than", using a foil technique to turn the invisible friendship into the tangible Thousand Feet Pond, vividly expressing Wang Lun's love for Li Bai A true and deep friendship. The language of the whole poem is fresh and natural, and the imagination is rich and unique. Although it has only four sentences and twenty-eight characters, it is one of Li's most widely circulated masterpieces.

Appreciation

The first half of the poem is a narrative: first the person who is leaving is written, and then the person who is seeing them off is written, showing a picture of parting. The sentence "take a boat" indicates that it is following a waterway. "The desire will be carried out" indicates that the boat is ready to go. This sentence makes readers seem to see Li Bai saying goodbye to people on the boat about to leave the shore.

The second half of the poem is lyrical. The third sentence is a distant connection, further explaining that the location of the boat is in Peach Blossom Pond. "A thousand feet deep" not only describes the characteristics of the pool, but also foreshadows the conclusion. The water of Peach Blossom Pond is so deep, it touches Li Ren's feelings, and Wang Lun's deep affection is unforgettable, and the water is naturally connected with deep affection.
