The sound of bells in the clouds is residual, which means that the bells behind you come intermittently, and finally disappear in the clouds.
Full text and translation of the ancient poem:
Looking alone for the green lotus, walking across the white sand beach. As soon as I entered the pine and snow, I saw the cold dusk on several peaks. The mountain monk welcomes guests, and the forest pavilion is for people to see. After chanting, I brushed my clothes and went away, the sound of the bell was still ringing.
I went to visit Yishangren’s temple alone, and passed a clean beach on the way. A trail extends deep into the snow-covered pine forest, and several peaks are faintly cold in the setting sun. The mountain monk happily welcomed me and took me around the Buddhist pavilion in the forest. After reciting the poem, I waved my clothes and said goodbye. The bells behind me came intermittently, and finally disappeared in the clouds.
About the author:
Yan Yu (date of birth and death unknown), also known as Danqiu and Yiqing, also known as Canglang Buke, was born in Shaowu (now part of Fujian). The poetry critic and poet of the Southern Song Dynasty in China is as famous as Yan Ren and Yan Shen, who are also from the same clan, and they are called "Three Yans."
Yan Yu lived in the late Southern Song Dynasty. He never became an official in his life and lived in seclusion in his hometown for most of his life. However, when the Yuan army invaded and the country was in danger, he still cared about current affairs. His patriotic thoughts were often revealed in his poems, and there were also many dissatisfaction with the shortcomings of the government, such as "Northern Expedition", "Four Directions", "Six Poems with Feelings", etc. .
Dai Fuxu said that he "worried about his country when he was wandering around, Du Ling, and Chen Zi'ang when he was hurt." Yan Yu's seven-character song line imitated Li Bai's, and his five rhymes were not only learned from Li, but also from Du Fu and Wei Yingwu, but he tended to dilute the ethereal way with Wang (Wei) and Meng (Haoran).
In terms of poetry theory, Yan Yu is the author of "Canglang Poetry Talk". His creative achievements are far inferior to his theoretical contributions. Poetry commentators have always pointed out the gap between these two aspects. The book is divided into five parts: "Poetic Analysis", "Poetry Style", "Poetry Method", "Poetry Criticism" and "Critical Research", which systematically expounds his theory of "Zen Enlightenment".
He takes the poetry of the Han, Wei and Tang dynasties as the highest model, and believes that "nothing is involved in reasoning, no words are lost, an antelope hangs its horns, and there is no trace to be found", and the realm of "words are exhausted but meaning is infinite" is the poetic art. standards pursued. Yan Yu's poetry theory is inspired by Sikong Tu in the late Tang Dynasty and inspired by the "Charm" and "Xingling" schools of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, which has a great influence on the poetry world.
