The most poetic place names in China.

First: Penglai.

Penglai has a mysterious color since ancient times. Because in ancient China mythology, Penglai Island has always been the place where overseas immortals lived. At that time, both Qin Shihuang and Emperor Wudi sent people to Penglai to look for the elixir of life. Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty prayed for immortals eight times and built the present Penglai City near Penglai Island. Penglai, because of its geographical location, is also one of the most frequent places where mirage appears in the world. In addition, the story of "Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea" in China mythology also happened here.

Second: fenglingdu.

Fenglingdu is located at the corner where the Yellow River turns eastward. It is a traffic fortress in Shanxi, Shaanxi and Henan provinces, and also the largest ferry on the Yellow River. Legend has it that the Yellow Emperor and Chiyou fought in Zhuolu, and Chiyou raised a fog, which made the Yellow Emperor's men lose their way. Just then, Hou Feng of the Yellow Emperor came with the compass he invented. The use of the compass helped the Yellow Emperor's army get out of trouble and defeated Chiyou. But he died in the battle after the wind. After Hou Feng's death, the Yellow Emperor buried him here and built Hou Fengling Mausoleum for him. It is here that Guo Xiang and Yang Guo first met in Jin Yong's martial arts novel The Condor Heroes. Because Guo Xiang's "meeting fenglingdu for the first time, seeing Yang Guo is a lifelong mistake", fenglingdu is also covered with a beautiful love color.

Third: Erhai Lake.

Erhai Lake is the "Mother Lake" of the Bai people in China. It gets its name because it looks like an ear. Also known as Ye Yuze, Kunmichuan and Xi Erhai Lake, Erhai Moon is one of the four scenic spots in Dali. Erhai Lake has clear water and blue sky, and stepping into it gives people a sense of tranquility and distance, just like a fairyland on earth. Legend has it that a princess just got married and her husband went to fight as a soldier. My husband hasn't come back for more than ten years, and everyone who comes back says he died in battle. The princess cried day and night and finally merged into Erhai Lake. The princess happened to die when her husband came back. So the princess's husband swore to heaven that he would spend his life with the princess. Since then, Cangshan and Erhai have appeared in the local area and have been guarded to this day.

Fourth: Yunxi.

Yanyunjian is located in Luoyang, Henan Province. Just listening to the name makes people feel poetic, and the local scenery is really beautiful. Legend has it that during the Xin Mang period, Wang Mang sent someone to kill Liu Xiu, who later became Emperor Guangwu. Liu Xiu was forced to have nowhere to hide, so he hid here. At that time, Liu Xiu saw the beautiful scenery and misty scenes here, so she asked the name of the village. When the villagers told Liu Xiu that the name didn't match this place, Liu Xiu gave the village a new name "Yanyunjian". Later, Liu Xiu established the Eastern Han Dynasty, which was passed down from generation to generation by local people.
