2. Works: "Inscription on a Humble Room", "Poem on Bamboo Branches", "Poem on Willow Branches", "Woyi Alley", etc. Extended information

Liu Yuxi's ancestor is Liu Sheng, the son of Mrs. Jia, Emperor Jing of the Han Dynasty. His seventh-generation ancestor Liu Liang was a regular servant of the Jizhou governor in the Northern Dynasty. He moved the capital to Luoyang with Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty.

Father Liu Xu moved to Suzhou to avoid the Anshi Rebellion. Liu Yuxi was born in the seventh year of the Dali calendar (772). His father and ancestors were both minor bureaucrats. His father Liu Xu was an official in Jiangnan, and Liu Yuxi spent his youth there. He began to study Confucian classics and recite poems and compose poems at a very young age. He was both smart and diligent. In terms of poetry writing, he received the influence and guidance of Jiao Ran and Ling Che, the famous poet monks at that time.

Liu Yuxi's landscape poems changed the narrow and bleak style of Dali and Zhenyuan poets, and often wrote an open scene that was half virtual and half real, beyond the real distance of space.

Liu Yuxi and his poetic style are quite unique. He had a resolute character and was full of heroic spirit. During the years of exile, when he was still suffering from hardships, he felt heavy psychological distress and sang out a series of lamentations of a lonely minister. But he never despaired and had the soul of a fighter.

In addition to poetry and essays, Liu Yuxi’s Ci and Fu creations are also an important link that cannot be ignored in the history of Ci and Fu in the Tang Dynasty, and even in the entire history of Ci and Fu. Compared with the number of poems and poems, it is not too small. In his book "History of Fu", Ma Jigao evaluated the writers of Ci and Fu in the Mid-Tang Dynasty, ranking Liu Zongyuan first, followed by Han Yu and Liu Yuxi, and compared Liu Zongyuan's Ci and Fu with Qu Yuan.
