Shen Garden is located on Lu Xun Middle Road, less than 200 meters east from the gate of Lu Xun’s ancestral home across Zhongxing Road. Shen Garden has a history of more than 800 years. When it was first established, it was very large, covering an area of ??70 acres. It was a famous ancient garden in the ancient city of Shaoxing. Shen Garden was the private garden of a wealthy businessman named Shen in the Southern Song Dynasty, so it was named "Shen's Garden". Shen Garden was designated as a cultural relic protection unit in Zhejiang Province in 1963.
A private garden, after so many years of vicissitudes, is still famous today, all because of a thousand-year-old story, a tear-jerking "Hairheaded Phoenix".
In the spring of the 21st year of Shaoxing (1151) in the Southern Song Dynasty, Lu You and his beloved wife Tang Wan met again here seven years after they were forced to separate. At that time, Lu You had married another Wang family as ordered by his mother, and Tang Wan also remarried Zhao Shicheng, a famous Shaoxing scholar. After obtaining her husband's consent, Tang Wan entertained Lu You with wine and food in Shen Garden. When the two of them talked about their separation and sadness together, Lu You was filled with emotions and felt like a knife piercing his heart. When the farewell was approaching, Lu You could no longer control himself. Filled with grief and indignation, he wrote on the wall of the garden the eternal masterpiece "The Hairpin-headed Phoenix": "Red hands, yellow wine. The garden is full of spring willows, and the palace wall is full of willows. East wind." Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! The peach blossoms are falling, and the book is still there. It's hard to trust. Mo, Mo, Mo!" Tang Wan was heartbroken when he saw the poem, and couldn't help but burst into tears. He was immersed in pain all the time when he returned home. He couldn't help himself, so he wrote a poem: "The Love of the World" Poor people, flowers are easy to fall when the rain comes at dusk. I want to write my thoughts alone. It's hard! People are different. Today is not the same as yesterday. It's cold, the night is dark, I'm afraid of people asking, I'm crying. Hide! Hide! Hide!" In the poem, Tang Wan expressed his endless longing for Lu You and cried out about his illness.
Tang Wan, who had been suffering from mental torture for a long time, could no longer bear the mental stimulation and died of melancholy soon after. When Lu You heard about this, he was devastated and his soul was deeply traumatized, which he could not let go of for the rest of his life. Shen Garden has since become the carrier of his longing for Tang Wan and the place where his dreams linger. When he came to the city in his later years, he would go to the Shen Garden to pay his respects whenever it was open. One day 40 years after Tang Wan passed away, Lu You came to Shen Garden again. At this time, things in Shen Garden had changed, and Lu You was filled with emotion. He also wrote two poems in "Shen Garden": "The setting sun on the city is sad, and Shen Garden is no longer the old pond. The spring waves under the sad bridge were green, and it was once a stunning photo. "The dream has faded away for forty years, and the old willow in the garden has stopped blowing. This body is still hanging in the soil of Jishan."
One night when I was 79 years old. Lu You saw Shen Yuan in his dream, and when he woke up he wrote two more quatrains: "I am afraid of walking on the road approaching the south of the city, and I am even more sad in Shen's home. The plum blossoms are on the sleeves of the guests, and the spring water is green on the temple bridges." "The small town in the south of the city." Spring comes again on the road, only plum blossoms can be seen but no one can be seen. The jade bones have become soil under the spring, and the ink marks are still like dust on the wall. "When he was 84 years old, Lu You still cared about Shen Garden. When he visited Shen Garden again, he wrote "Spring Outing". Jue: "The flowers in Shen's home are as beautiful as brocade, half of which I knew when I was free. I also believe that beauty will eventually become ashes, and cannot bear the hurried dreams." The poet left more than ten poems in memory of Tang Wan and the encounter in Shen Yuan. arts. Lu You left a large number of poems in his life, but it is rare to write so many poems in the same place. Because of these tear-jerking stories and touching poems, people not only regard Shen Garden as a memorial place to commemorate the poet, but also as a place of persistent love. People now go to Shen Garden not only to appreciate the classical gardens, but also to experience the beautiful love in the world. Shen Garden has actually become a love theme park in Shaoxing.
Shenyuan experienced eight hundred years of rise and fall, and by the time Shaoxing was liberated, only one corner remained. When Mr. Guo Moruo visited Shen Garden in 1962, it was still desolate. He once wrote "The Hairpin-headed Phoenix" to describe the scene in the garden. The three characters "Shen's Garden" on the forehead of Shen Yuan that we see now were inscribed by Guo Moruo back then. People will never forget Han Kehua, the former director of the National Tourism Administration. He had a special preference for Shen Garden. He visited Shaoxing many times and always visited Shen Garden every time he came to Shaoxing. It may be that the director's deep affection played a role in promoting the country's investment in Shen Yuan as early as the 1980s, and started the process of Shen Yuan becoming glorious again. In 1987 and 1993, the government and relevant departments rebuilt Song Dynasty gardens on the original site. Coupled with the restoration projects in recent years, Shen Garden has begun to take shape and has become an important scenic spot in the ancient city of Shaoxing. After restoration, reconstruction and expansion, Shen Garden covers an area of ??57 acres and is divided into three parts: the historical area, the East Garden and the Nanyuan.
Landscapes such as Guhe Pavilion, Banbi Pavilion, Shuanggui Hall, Bayong Tower, Songjing, Shepu, Wenmeijian, Qintai and Guangsuzhai are based on the historical appearance or the cultural connotation of Shen Garden. The needs are distributed in the three major areas of Shenyuan in an orderly manner, forming "Elegy of Broken Clouds", "Love in Poetic Land", "Shocking Waves of Spring", "Remnant of the Broken Wall", "Lone Crane Wailing", " Ten scenes include "Lotus reflecting the sun", "The willows resenting the palace wall", "Walking on the snow and plum blossoms", "Fragrance of poems and books" and "The magpie bridge conveying love". The Hulu Pond and the hill in the historic area are still the original remains of the Song Dynasty, and most of the rest have been restored based on archaeological excavations. Dongyuan, located on the east side of the historical area, is also known as the Lovers' Garden and fully displays the characteristics of Jiangnan gardening. Nanyuan is located at the southern end of the historical area and is mainly composed of Lianli Garden and Lu You Memorial Hall. Shen Garden is well-proportioned, with solemn and elegant tones, and the scenic spots set off each other, giving it a very Song Dynasty flavor.
Because Lu You loved plum blossoms all his life, a large number of wintersweet trees were planted in Shen Yuan Historic Area. When the plum blossoms are in full bloom, the fragrance fills the entire park. Visiting Shen Yuan in winter has become a special tourism in Shaoxing, and it will be even more poetic if it snows.
Lu You (1125-1210), named Wuguan, also known as Fangweng, was a native of Shanyin (now Shaoxing), Yuezhou, and was a great patriotic poet in the Southern Song Dynasty. Lu You lived in a time when the country was being invaded by the Jin soldiers. The small court in the Southern Song Dynasty was willing to compromise for the sake of peace. The capitulationists had the upper hand, and the nation was in deep crisis. Lu You was smart since he was a child and could write poetry at the age of twelve. Influenced by family patriotism, he set his ambition to serve the country when he was young. Due to the suppression of the compromising forces, Lu You's ideas of regaining the Central Plains and reforming the bad government could not be upheld. However, he was unswerving in his determination. When he was dying, he still worked for the unification of the country. He wrote the poem "Shi'er" to urge his children to "die." Yuan knows that everything is in vain, but the sorrow is not shared by Jiuzhou. Wang Shibei set the Central Plains day, and the family sacrifices were not forgotten. "Lu You is a famous and prolific poet in the history of our country. He wrote more than 10,000 poems during his lifetime, and there are still 9,300 poems. Many songs are retained. Lu You's handed down works include "Jiannan Poetry Draft", "Weinan Collected Works", etc. He is the founder and leader of the Jiannan Poetry School.
