Yin Kun, a famous poetry critic in the prosperous Tang Dynasty, likes to use the word "Xiang Xing" to talk about poetry. When commenting on Meng Haoran's two poems, he also said that "no matter what the image is, it is also true" (see He Yueling's Photo Album). The so-called "towards the star" means that the poet's emotion and spirit control the image, making it integrate with the vibration of the poet's mind, thus gaining life and life. You can see more clearly. The language of Meng Haoran's poems is not strange or unusual, but avoids the commonness. "The language is light, but the taste is not thin at the end" (Shen Deqian's Collection of Tang Poems). Some of his poems are often refined in simple painting methods, but the dense latitude and longitude seem to be inadvertently revealed, showing high artistic skill. For example, his famous work "Passing through the Old Village":
Prepare chicken and rice for me, old friend, you entertain me on your farm. We look at the green trees around your village and the pale blue in remote mountainous areas. We open the windows of your garden and fields, talk about mulberry trees and marijuana in our hands, and wait until the holiday in the mountains. I will come again at chrysanthemum time.
Throughout the narrative, it seems to be homely, and it has the same effect as Tao Yuanming's poems such as Drinking, but Tao wrote ancient prose, but this poem is dense. The couplet "We see green trees around your village, and the distant mountains are light blue" makes the finishing point to outline the typical environment of the village surrounded by green mountains and trees. There is also a five-line poem "Spring Dawn" that women and children can recite, which is also implicit in a natural language.
In addition, Meng Haoran often breaks through the limitation of the inherent formula in the use of poetic style, which makes him have a different taste. For example, the poem "Looking at the Boat" has a gentle and even melody in the five-step format, but the two couplets do not make parallel couplets, which seems to be ancient rhyme. Hu Yinglin's "Poetry" thinks that this kind of poetry "is short and ancient in nature in the Six Dynasties, and rhymes with it will have a sense of divinity."
The bell in the temple of the mountain rang the night, and I heard people in the fishing city hobbling on the ferry. People came to Jiangcun along the beach, and I also took a boat to Lumen Mountain. Soon, the moonlight of Lumen Mountain penetrated the misty trees. Unconsciously, I came to an ancient seclusion, a hut door and a pine path. It was lonely and quiet, and only you came and went at night.
This poem is full of poetic style, but it only writes down the journey all the way to the night, not extravagant. Its scale is similar to that of modern poetry, it absorbs the characteristics of concise language of modern poetry, and at the same time highlights the syntax of poetic style, which is quite beautiful to read.
These characters are full of free and easy feelings, which is also one of the creative manifestations of Meng's poems.
