"Because of their greed, they use sweet words to gain benefits from you; Since ancient times, the trial of such people has never slackened, and their demise has never been delayed. 」
[original meaning] "greed" greed, hoping to get more; Shaped, forged or fictional; "Take advantage" of buying and selling, and exploit it to earn money; "Penalty" judgment and conviction; "Since ancient times" for a long time, in the past; "procrastination" is lazy and procrastinating; "Come on" never takes a nap.
[Text Note] "They are greedy", this sentence shows that the fundamental source of heretical lessons is greed, that is, the desire for more possession, which drives people to abandon the truth.
"I want to ask you for benefits with fabricated words", "fabricated words" refers to the rhetoric invented by clever scheming, which is intended to seduce the hearts of honest people (see Luo. 16: 18); "On you" refers to believers; "Profit-seeking" refers not only to financial gains, but also to reputation, status and followers.
"Their punishment has never been delayed since ancient times." "Punishment" refers to God's reaction to people's words and deeds. "Since ancient times" means in human history; "No delay" has two meanings: (1) means that God's judgment is immediate; (2) It means that the execution of the judgment will inevitably come. Although time seems to be delayed in people's eyes, it is not delay, but tolerance (see 3.9).
"Their demise will come soon", "Their demise" refers to the tragic ending of false teachers; "Come quickly" means in the blink of an eye.
[Light in the Word] (1) People who simply serve the Lord never seek a job in the church to make money, nor do they seek profit from piety (Timothy. 6: 5), but care about copyright and other rights.
(2) False teachers do not serve our Lord Christ, but only their own stomachs; Seduce the honest man's heart with sweet words. 16 18).
(3) "Using fabricated words", the false teacher's lessons seem to be coherent, but in fact they deliberately distort the truth of the Bible and change the meaning of God with human will.
(4) Damian said, "When the devil carries the Bible, it is nothing more evil." False teachers, with bibles in their hands, are like messengers of benevolence, righteousness and Taoism, singing songs handed down from family to family, and using biblical terms fluently because of their bad intentions.
(5) False teachers and their foreign courses are clearly described in the second and third sections of this chapter: (1) The origin of foreign courses-greed; (2) the method of teaching heresy-rhetoric; (3) the influence of heresy-introducing fornication; (4) The consequences of heresy-being punished and perishing.
(6) False teachers only look at the immediate gains, not the final losses; True Christians would rather suffer in the present, but seek enjoyment in the future (see Mt 16: 25~26).
