The Decline of the Third Generation Poetry: The Death of the Poet

Poetry after misty poetry is somewhat avant-garde, because its birth can not be separated from the influence of modernism and postmodernism. Rebellion is one of the characteristics of pioneers. The third generation of poetry officially declared war on misty poetry from 1984 at the latest. They shouted slogans such as "Let Shu Ting go" and "Down with the North Island", which were anti-sublime, anti-hero, anti-lyric, anti-tradition and even anti-poetry.

They demanded that poetry lead to truth and integrity, determined to express the most universal life, and announced that they would "live like citizens and think like God".

Even so, their works have indeed made some efforts in the artistic exploration of expelling images, restoring poetic language and turning lyricism into narration, which has gained a broader expansion space than misty poetry. He killed his wife with a sharp axe and committed suicide by neck.

Gu Cheng's death is regarded as "the end of an era". "He ruined a fairy tale, marking our break with the 1980s. He kept us away from the dream of youth. " In 1980s, the cultural craze in Chinese mainland disappeared. Perhaps it is not so difficult to write poetry, but to be a poet all your life. Beidao has gone abroad, and now he mainly writes prose, Shu Ting rewrites prose, and Munk becomes a painter ...
