Tang Bai Juyi
The cold corner of the river is moving, and the birds in the sandbar are still returning.

In the tenth year of Yuanhe, Bai Juyi moved to Jiangzhou Sima. The scenery and climate in the south of the Yangtze River are very different from those in Chang 'an. The poet missed Chang 'an very much, heard the anvil sound of Jiangzhou people beating clothes, thought of ten thousand washing mallets beating in Chang 'an, and saw the bright moon in Jiangzhou. He sang "A tall building, a full moon, Wan Li feels at home" again.
With the deepening of autumn and the beginning of winter, the poet's heart becomes more and more melancholy. On the shelf, he is independent of the cold autumn, and the horn of Jiangzhou City at his feet bursts, sometimes high and sometimes low, as if with the chill of late autumn. At first glance, the setting sun shines on the Yangtze River, and the sandbars on the river are yellow, and the homing birds are hovering around.
The poet above Gaoting seems to have touched his heart and looked at the distant mountains in the southwest. His hometown is very long and the mountains are far away. What's he looking at? What's he missing?
Looking at Chang' an? The poet's yearning for Chang 'an does exist, but it may not be so strong. In the spring of the following year, he wrote: "The mountains are full of clear water, and it is believed that Bai Liu is yellow. I don't know what Jiangxi means. The scenery is different from the emperor's hometown." Spring in the south of the Yangtze River will soon soothe his yearning for Chang 'an, not to mention that Chang 'an is in the northwest, not in the southwest.
So who is in the southwest? There are also Tongzhou and Yuan Zhen. As a close friend of Bai Juyi, how did Yuan Zhen react when he heard that Bai Juyi was demoted to Jiangzhou Sima? "Sitting up in critical condition, the black wind blows the rain and hits the cold window!" In March of the tenth year of Yuanhe, Yuan Zhen was demoted to Tongzhou (now Dazhou, Sichuan). How did Bai Juyi react? "The pillow popped up and the clothes were turned upside down." Jumped out of bed in fright and dressed backwards.
Such a pair of intimate friends, who have a heart in mind, are separated by thousands of miles for political reasons, and can no longer drink and sing poems together. It is conceivable that Tongzhou in the Yuan Dynasty is not as far away from Jiangzhou in the south of the Yangtze River as they miss each other in their hearts. What was Tongzhou like in those days?
In a letter to Bai Juyi, Yuan Zhen wrote, "The land is easy to get, the wet mat is simple, the population is poor, and more than half of them died in the near drought. There are no officials in the city, and there are no goods in the city. The people are like vegetation. Under the secretariat, they feed on rice." ? There are many things like tigers, frogs, floating dust, spiders, bees and so on, which can get into the skin and make people ache. "-"Syria's poems send music to heaven ".
His good friend lives in such a poor and difficult place. Mosquitoes are rampant, tigers and leopards are fierce, and boils are rampant, but there is nothing he can do. The pain in Bai Juyi's heart can be imagined. He can only be alone in the high pavilion, looking at the mountains in the southwest, hearing the cold river corner and the sound of running water on the river, but he can't hear the voice of his old friend; I can see the birds hovering at dusk, I can see the sandbars on the river, but I can't see my old friends. Distant mountains, thousands of miles away, leaving only the poet's autumn heart bleak, independent and cold autumn, with a sigh, "I miss someone, separated by a distant hometown."
