Why is poetry characterized by subjective lyricism?

The characteristic of poetry is to reflect the objective real life in a concentrated and general way through the poet's strong emotion and rich imagination. Any artistic work must be an organic combination of the objective factors of social life and the subjective factors of artists, but in poetry, the subjective factors of artists are obviously dominant, and social life often needs to be reflected by the refraction of the poet's subjective emotional world. Qu Yuan's Li Sao and Li Bai's ancient poems all show this feature. The lyric poem Phoenix Nie written by Guo Moruo during the May 4th Movement is a typical embodiment. Poetry combines Chinese and foreign myths, takes the legend of Phoenix as the material, and expresses strong patriotic enthusiasm with the story of Phoenix's "gathering incense and burning itself, and being reborn from the fire". The image of Phoenix symbolizes the awakening of the ancient Chinese nation. This long poem is complete in structure, unique in conception, bold in imagination, full of passionate passion for light and pursuit of ideals, and fully embodies the surging spirit of the times during the May 4th Movement. In order to express the poet's strong emotion and rich imagination, poetry pays special attention to the use of beautiful language to create an artistic conception of blending scenes.
