Jia Baoyu: It's so cold to take a bath, and I hold my heart on Xiziyu as my soul.

In the thirty-seventh chapter of A Dream of Red Mansions, "A Night's Chrysanthemum-writing in the Heng Wu Garden of Autumn Shuangzhai Occasionally Married Begonia Society", Baoyu's "Ode to Bai Haitang" was rated as "the last one", and he fell in the first place among the sisters.

"The autumn looks pale and reflects the heavy door, and the seven festivals are full of snow."

"autumn looks" can refer to "autumn colors" or "sad faces".

The "seven sections" here doesn't necessarily mean that there are "seven sections", but it can just express a large number.

Just like some numbers are only used to express empty fingers, or even exaggeration, for example, Li Bai's "Song of Autumn Pu" says that "white hair is 3, feet, and sorrow is like a long one".

Even if you have white hair, you can't have "three thousand feet", so it's an exaggeration.

even if there is "three thousand feet", can you measure it?

The purpose of saying this is to express that there are more white hair and more sadness. Sorrow is as much as white hair.

it is also a bit abstract and concrete.

Just like the phrase "there is no weight in this hate" in Qin Guan's "Walking on a Shakedown Tower", it is to "abstract" hate into concrete.

But "autumn capacity" and "snow" mentioned in these two sentences are also two people named Daiyu and Baochai.

In this way, the better translation of "autumn face" should be "sad face".

If we just say "autumn colors", it can be translated as "autumn colors are reflected lightly on the indoor doors, and there are a lot of begonia flowers, like a basin full of snow".

If it is a sad face, it can be translated as "The sad face of (Begonia flower) is reflected on the indoor door lightly, and there are many Begonia flowers, like a basin full of snow".

Daiyu always has a sad face, and Baochai's "Xue" is the same as "snow".

Isn't that "sad face reflected lightly on the interior door" just like the sad figure of Sister Lin, which is always imprinted lightly on Baoyu's heart?

A large number of begonia flowers, like a basin full of snow, are not as white as snow?

the more you have, the more cold and dusty you feel, just like Baochai.

"Taking a bath is too real to make a shadow, holding the heart of Xizi Jade as the soul".

(Begonia flower) is like Yang Taizhen who just came out of the bath, a figure carved by ice; It is also like Xizi, a soul made of jade.

These two sentences are more like talking about Baochai and Daiyu.

In the thirtieth episode of A Dream of Red Mansions, Baochai borrows a fan with a double knock on the young official to get crazy and get out of the office, after Baochai said that the reason why she didn't go to the theatre was "fear of heat", Baoyu accosted and laughed: "No wonder they compared her sister to Yang Fei, but she was also physically rich and afraid of heat."

But it did annoy Baochai. She sneered twice and said, "I'm like Princess Yang, but no good brother can be Yang Guozhong!"

So Yang Taizhen (Yang Guifei) mentioned here is likely to imply Baochai.

In Bai Juyi's Song of Eternal Sorrow, it is written that taking a bath is "it was early spring. They bathed her in the FlowerPure Pool, which warmed and smoothed the creamy-tinted crystal of her skin". And, because of her languor, a maid was lifting her, when first the Emperor noticed her and chose her for his bride ".

Yang Taizhen's delicate figure just came out of the bath seems as cold as ice.

Daiyu and Xi Shi are also very similar in appearance:

They are like frowning eyebrows, and a pair of eyes look like joy but not joy. The state has two sorrows, and it is a disease. Tears are a little bit, and the breath is slightly. When you are idle, it is like a beautiful flower shining on the water, and when you act, it is like a weak willow. The heart knows more than the stem, and the disease is as good as the west.

But Daiyu wants to be "as sick as Xizi wins three points".

It is said that Daiyu is like Xizi, a soul made of jade.

one is plump and the other is thin.

They are all like fairies, but one is dignified and the other is sad.

each has its own characteristics and each has its own beauty.

"The morning breeze won't disperse a thousand worries, but the rain will add a tear.".

The breeze at dawn in the morning can't blow away its thousand sorrows, and even the rain all night adds another tear to it.

This sentence clearly shows the figure of Daiyu.

Although the first four sentences give people the impression that half of them are talking about Baochai and half about Daiyu, there seems to be a contrast.

but this sentence obviously makes people feel that they are all talking about Daiyu. Perhaps it is also reflected here that Daiyu and Baochai have different positions in his heart.

Although he is willing to be close to both of them, he is still close to Sister Lin.

and he also has his own truth: "don't be intimate, don't be arrogant first."

Isn't it just like Dai Yu's state of mind when she started writing Autumn Window Rainy Evening?

I don't know when the storm will stop, but I have taught my tears to wet the window screen.

Perhaps those "sudden winds and heavy rains" can be compared to their own myriad sorrows and sad tears. ("wind" is my sadness, "rain" is my tears)

Of course, a deeper understanding can also compare "wind and rain" to a harsh environment that makes you suffer, expressing your sadness in an isolated situation.

The wind can't dispel the sadness on my sister's face, and the rain just adds another tear to her face.

because of sentimentality, even a light rain and a breeze can affect the mood.

"If you are interested in leaning on the painting column alone, clear the anvil and complain that the flute will send you to dusk".

If you have thoughts when leaning against the painted railing alone, you will (unconsciously) hear the crisp sound of smashing clothes and the flute of bitterness and send away the evening.

"Listening to the sound of anvil" means listening to the sound of "smashing clothes", which often shows the melancholy mood of people leaving their wives and their hometown.

"flute sound" is often associated with homesickness in ancient poetry.

Just like the sentence "Why should the Qiang flute blame the willow? The spring breeze doesn't pass Yumenguan", the long sound of the Qiang flute will evoke the homesickness of the foot soldiers.

In Baochai's "Ode to Bai Haitang", there is a sentence "If you want to pay for the cleanliness of the White Emperor, you will feel faint if you don't speak.".

(Bai Haitang) wants to repay Bai Di with his innocence. He is graceful and quiet, waiting for the next dusk.

It's just that Baoyu's "Bai Haitang" is still "leaning on the painting column alone", listening to "clearing the anvil and complaining about the flute".

if you become a beauty, you must be a beauty with sorrow.

"leaning on the fence alone" itself adds a sense of loneliness, not to mention hearing "clearing the anvil and complaining about the flute".

It's like a combination of "The man leaning on the railing cries at the east wind, and the skirt stands beside the peach blossom" in Daiyu's Peach Blossom Walk and "I miss my heart and go home with the geese, but I seldom sit and listen to the anvil at night" in Baochai's Yi Ju.

If she is a beauty, she has the charm of "Chai Dai".

In this way, it is easy for people to think of Qin Keqing, who "has both the beauty of Chai Dai" and "is as bright and charming as Baochai, and as charming as Daiyu".

Daiyu and Baochai are already beautiful, and Qin Keqing has the beauty of Daichai, so it can be seen that their beauty ranks first among the twelve.

Therefore, in the last two sentences, Baoyu must have remembered Qin Keqing's voice, face and smile.

after all, they also had a "too illusory fate".
