Fan Zhongyan held important positions in the imperial court many times, and also guarded the local area. When he was guarding Hangzhou, he promoted many subordinates and recommended many people. An official named Su Lin often goes out to inspect, and he is not happy to see his colleague promoted. If you go directly to Fan's adult to fight for the official position, he will feel very embarrassed. I feel unbalanced when I don't talk.

So he wrote this poem and asked Fan for advice, and dedicated this poem to Fan Zhongyan, humbly asking him for advice. When Fan Zhongyan read Su Lin's poems, he immediately understood his meaning and appreciated his poems, so Su Lin was promoted.
