Imagination is a special form of thinking. By processing and imagining the contents of words, we can master a reading skill. Einstein said imagination is more important than knowledge. Just reading without thinking and imagining is tantamount to entertaining reading. This kind of reading is just a little more information in your mind that you didn't have before reading this book. However, your mind is basically the same as in the past, but the number of pre-reading has changed.
In "Remembering and Reading", a paragraph is used to explain reading: "When reading, you must first know the words, then turn those words into words, turn words into sentences, and finally understand these sentences with grammatical rules." So what is imagination? Imagination is a special form of thinking, and it is a psychological process that people process and transform the persistent images in their minds, form a new image and break through the time and space constraints. Processing and imagining by reading the content of the text is a reading skill. Some people read a lot of books, but the effect is not good. That's because a book for recreation or entertainment may bring you temporary happiness, but you can't expect any other gains except enjoyment, let alone thinking and imagination.
First of all, imagination is more important than knowledge.
"Imagination is more important than knowledge" was said by Einstein, the greatest scientist and thinker in the 20th century and one of the main founders of quantum theory. His scientific and philosophical thoughts are profound and have different responses. He once said frankly: "Imagination is more important than knowledge, because knowledge is limited. Imagination sums up everything in the world and promotes progress." In fact, reading is an imaginary psychological activity process. Readers can express what the author wants to express more accurately by reading and understanding the text and expanding their imagination. If it's not imaginary, just a literal understanding, it's not reading. Because knowledge has not been transformed into what you understand, readers can find pleasure in reading through their own association and imagination. Imagination is such a beautiful thing that you can understand the meaning of words more vividly while reading and imagining.
Second, reading more does not necessarily mean reading.
Many parents find that their children love reading and read a lot of books, but their Chinese performance is not good, their writing ability is not strong and their expression ability is not good. This is not good, that is not good, all the books I read are for nothing. Did you study for nothing? Didn't Jin Meiling say that "some things are invisible, and you can't see where he is going"? Existence is reasonable! Of course, reading is not for nothing. Reading without thinking is not enough. You haven't mastered reading skills. Of course, it may also be related to the choice of books. Choosing some entertaining books to read is equivalent to watching TV series. These plots can only flash in my mind. Reading for information is like reading for entertainment. There is no way to help your brain grow. Maybe it seems to grow, but that's only because you have more information in your mind that you didn't have before reading this book. However, your mind is basically the same as in the past, only the number of readings has changed, but having your own imagination and thinking when reading will make reading efficient and rewarding. Confucius said, "Learning without thinking is useless, and thinking without learning is dangerous."
Thirdly, language acquisition is a process of reading construction.
Everyone's state of building mental ability through speech activities in language education is different. For example, one student said, "Mom opened the refrigerator to find something" is right, and another student said, "Mom got into the refrigerator to find something" is also right. If you don't imagine it, it is very difficult for the little author to drill into the refrigerator to find something. In fact, you can't find anything without probing into the body. Leaning into the body is going into the refrigerator.
"Stephen Pinker said in introducing Chomsky's theory of language instinct that Chomsky aroused people's attention to two basic phenomena of language. First of all, almost all sentences spoken or heard by people are brand-new sentences. 1 first appeared in the universe, so language can never be the confluence of stimulus responses. The human brain must have certain control or certain settings. It can be seen that it can create infinite sentences with limited words. We will never see people with pale and empty hearts show good language skills. "
In fact, telling stories is also a way of reading. Storytellers often modify the plot of a story through their own imagination, and even the content of each story remains basically the same, but there are still many changes. This is how I tell stories to children. I tell the story of "The Little White Rabbit and the Big Wolf", sometimes I finish it in a short time, and sometimes I deliberately go around to delay the time. Only then did I find that when the story is finished and what will happen in this process is completely controlled by the storyteller. In this process, storytellers absolutely need to be bold in imagination.
In short, reading is a rich mental activity, and an imaginative mind can stimulate readers' interest in reading, which is more conducive to personal growth. Therefore, no matter what occupation you are engaged in, whether you are a student or not, reading is good for everyone, and reading is the easiest thing to do. If you love reading, everything will get better and better.
