The representative writers of landscape poetry in the Jin Dynasty are Guo Pu and Sun Chuo.
Guo Pu (276-324), courtesy name Jingchun, Han nationality, was born in Wenxi County, Hedong (now Wenxi County, Shanxi Province), and was the son of Guo Yuan, the prefect of Jianping in the Western Jin Dynasty. A famous scholar of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, he was not only a litterateur and exegete, but also a master of Taoist mathematics and the originator of immortal poems. He was also the originator of Chinese Feng Shui and his author of "The Burial Sutra". At the end of the Western Jin Dynasty, war was about to break out, and Guo Pu fled to the south of the Yangtze River. At the end of the Western Jin Dynasty, he was appointed by Wang Dun as a reporter to join the army.
Sun Chuo (314-371), named Xinggong, was a native of Zhongdu, Taiyuan (now Pingyao County, Shanxi). A minister, writer, and calligrapher of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, he was a representative figure of the Xuanyan School of Poetry. ? Born in Kuaiji, he was erudite and good at writing, and he was able to explore the vast landscape. He was as famous as Xu Xun of Gao Yang and was granted the title of Marquis of Changle. He started his career as a doctor of Taixue, moved to Shangshulang, and served as the magistrate of Zhang'an County, the chief historian of Jianwei, the chief historian of the Youjun Army, and the prefect of Yongjia.
During the reign of Emperor Ai of the Jin Dynasty, he moved away from the cavalry to serve as regular servants and led as a scholar. He prevented the great Sima Huanwen from moving the capital to Luoyang, moved to Weiqing, and participated in Wang Xizhi's Lanting gathering. He died in the sixth year of Taihe (371) at the age of fifty-eight.
