Acts 16: 29 The jailer called for a lamp, and he jumped in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas.
[Text Note] "Just jump in" refers to jumping forward, which vividly depicts the feeling that the jailer is eager to find out.
"Trembling" means that he is trembling with shock.
Acts 16: 30 And he brought them out and said, Gentlemen, what must I do to be saved? " "
[Text Note] "What can I do to be saved?" The jailer may ask this question only for his own safety, and it does not involve faith. But it is more likely: (1) I feel the truth of God through this incident and how I face this true God, so I can't wait to ask how to deal with it; (2) I have heard the story of Paul and Silas telling the story of saving lives (see section 17), so I want to know this method.
Acts 16: 3 1 They said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you and your family will be saved. " "
[Background] "You and your family will be saved." In ancient times, parents had great authority, especially in terms of beliefs. What parents believe is often followed by the whole family.
[Note] "Believe in the Lord Jesus" is a brief explanation of the way to salvation (Acts 10: 43).
"You and your family will be saved." No matter what the jailer's motive was to ask "how to be saved" (see verse 30), Paul grasped the handle and guided him to seek the way to "save his soul".
[Problem Correction] This section does not mean that as long as one person in the family believes, the whole family will be automatically saved; It means: (1) How a person is saved by believing in the Lord, so will his family; (2) If a person is saved first, the real change of his life will easily affect the return of the whole family to the Lord; (3) The first person who was saved cared about their families and always prayed for them with faith. Finally, the whole family was moved and returned to the Lord. (4) God's intention is to save one family and another (Gen. 7:1; Exodus 12: 3 ~ 4; Book 2: 18 ~ 19), the bible and the history of the church have proved that the whole family has a great chance of salvation (road19: 9; act 1 1 14; 18 8).
[Speaking lightly] (1) Belief in the gospel is a personal matter, which cannot be replaced by others; But one person's self-confidence often drives the whole family to believe.
(2) If the family members of believers have not yet believed in the Lord, never lose heart, or even lose heart. Pray and pray, and be patient until the end, and they will eventually see the fruit of salvation (see Mt. 24 13).
Acts 16: 32 And they told him the word of the Lord and all his family.
[Text Note] "Everyone in his family" originally means "everyone in his family".
Acts 16: 33 "At that time that night, the jailer took them away and washed their wounds; He and his people were immediately baptized. "
[Text Note] "Wash the wound" and "injury" refer to the wound.
"He and his people were immediately baptized." According to some people, Paul rarely baptizes others. He only remembers that he baptized Stephen's family. 14 ~ 16), and Stephen's family was his first fruit in Achaia (Lin Qian 1. 16: 15), so it is inferred that the jailer's name is Stephen. But Paul's words may only refer to Corinthians, so they should not apply to Philippians.
[Problem Correction] According to this section and section 15, some people come to the conclusion that as long as they are believers' family members, whether they are babies or children, they can be baptized with their parents. This explanation is wrong for the following reasons: (1) The reason for being baptized is that they all believe in the Lord (see section 15, 34); (2) To believe in the Lord, everyone should be old enough to know whether to believe or not.
Others believe that after believing in the Lord, you must wait until you clearly understand some truth about salvation before you are baptized. This concept is completely contrary to the plot described in this section. The analysis is as follows: (1) The home of the forbidden death believed in the Lord "that night" and was baptized "immediately" without waiting for a while; (2) If they need to know more about the truth before they can be baptized, they are all foreigners and have never known God. Except for Paul's words, they have never heard of the way of salvation (see section 32), which shows that their understanding of the truth is extremely limited; (3) It was late at night and it was not convenient to soak, but they didn't wait until dawn. (4) Paul and Silas were injured by sticks and should have rested, but they couldn't wait to baptize others.
Acts 16: 34 And the jailer took them into his house and gave them a feast. He and his family are very happy because they believe in God. "
[Text Note] "So the jailer took them to their home". The jailer's "home" may be upstairs or next to the cell.
"Because they believe in God, everyone is very happy." "Joy" is the symbol of Philippi Church (Phil. 1: 25; 2. 17 ~ 18; Three copies1; 44).
[There is light in words] (1) Those who preach the good news of the gospel have a privilege, that is, to harvest and nourish the body from those who receive the gospel (1 Cor. 1. 9: 4 ~ 1 1).
(2) Anyone who has tasted salvation will naturally have two mentalities: (1) Be kind to those who are saved together; (2) Be full of joy in your situation.
