The origin of Slender West Lake

Slender West Lake, located in the west of Yangzhou, was originally the Guarantee River, which is the natural channel for water from Shugang Mountain in Yangzhou to flow into the canal. The river bank twists and turns, and the river surface moves from time to time. During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, local officials in Yangzhou made a southern tour to welcome Emperor Qianlong, dug ponds and piled mountains, built large-scale buildings, built unique gardens by the mountains and rivers, and became a scenic spot. Compared with the West Lake in Hangzhou, its scenery has a slim and beautiful charm, so it is called "Slender West Lake". Slender West Lake is 4.3 kilometers long and covers an area of more than 30 hectares. Visitors can watch the beauty of Huguang Pavilion from the upper reaches of the land and along the coast, and appreciate the magnificent scenery of "two dikes of flowers and willows are close to the water and all the way up the mountain"; You can also swim upstream, draw a fat man by dragon boat, and walk along the "Ganlong Water Tour Line" to experience the feeling of "the boat swims in the water and the scenery walks on the shore". Slender West Lake has many scenic spots, such as Royal Pier, Yechun Garden, Xiyuan Qushui, Rolling Stone Cave, Wu Ting Bridge and Diaoyutai. Twenty-four Bridges and Spring Willow in Long Beach have been famous scenic spots of Slender West Lake since ancient times, and many ancient poems about Slender West Lake have their names. Wang Ling, a poet of Qiantang in Qing Dynasty, came here to visit the West Lake and improvised a poem: weeping willows keep pulling weeds, and the picture of wild tooth Hongqiao is also a bucket of gold, so it is called Slender West Lake.
