Hit the soil is an ancient game: make two pieces of "soil" out of wood, making it look like the front is big and the back is small, each one is one foot and three inches long. First put a piece on the ground, then stand a few steps away and hit it with this piece of "soil" in your hand. If you hit it, you will win.
This is an old people's game, which is good for the old people to exercise their muscles. They sang while playing. This song, later called "The Song of Beating the Soil", may be the earliest poem recorded in writing.
