Why is the script based on which ancient storytellers performed called "the script"?

Generally speaking, storytelling is the basis used by ancient storytellers. The origin of the script comes from "saying". The original meaning of "saying" is to tell a story orally. During the Sui and Tang Dynasties, there was a fashion of "storytelling", and the name "storytelling" appeared in Dunhuang Variations.

With the development of commerce in the Song Dynasty, Shuo became popular rapidly, and the rulers of the Yuan Dynasty banned Shuo from performing, so Shuo's oral skills gradually declined, but the performance became a written form and spread among the people.

"Shuo" in Song Dynasty can be divided into four schools: novel, scripture, history and consonant (student), with the theme of the story as the dividing standard. The existing Song and Yuan dialects are the first three. Among them, story books are all short stories, which are the most valuable and widely circulated novels in Song and Yuan Dynasties. The themes of novels in Song and Yuan Dynasties are: First, describing love stories, such as Mo Yu Guan Yin; The second is to describe immortal ghosts, such as Ghost in Xishan Grottoes; The third is to describe case-solving works, such as Mistaken Cui Ning; The fourth is to describe chivalrous heroes, such as "The Story" in which Wen Yang stands in the way.

Song and Yuan Dialect System: Song and Yuan Dialects have certain characteristics in the system, which are generally composed of foreign dialects (also known as Chapter 1), official dialects and epilogue. At the beginning of the script, first introduce a poem or a parallel prose, and then tell a short story that is similar or opposite to the real content. This is a method used by storytellers to stabilize the first audience and wait for the last audience. Dialogue is the main story to be told in each scene, and the ending is done according to the formula of "the whole story should be said, the right to end" Conclusion, or quote poetry to summarize the full text. Scripts about history are generally called "Pinghua" or "Pinghua". It tells the historical story of the wars of rise and fall in past dynasties. It was developed on the basis of history in the Song Dynasty. What matters now is the Pinghua and Xuanhe Tieshi of the Three Kingdoms.
