What is Yu Qiuyu’s work?

Yu Qiuyu, a native of Yuyao, Zhejiang, is a famous esthetician and writer in mainland China. He has been awarded the title of "National Expert with Outstanding Contributions" and has served as a professor in many universities. In fact, it is not easy to talk about Yu Qiuyu's status in the Chinese cultural world. This Chinese esthetician, famous for his "Cultural Journey" and "Notes on a Mountain Dwelling", is praised by some critics as someone who writes prose with his left hand without losing its superficiality, and writes artistic theories with his right hand without losing its difficulty and difficulty.

Take "Cultural Journey" as an example. One of the articles, "Hidden Spring in the Sand Plains", is only 2,500 words. It is a pure description of scenery and lyrical prose, but it is written in a poetic and picturesque way. The main content of this article is the author's process of climbing a sand mountain alone on the desert ground in Dunhuang County, and then descending the mountain to enjoy a clear spring and what he saw and felt. In the article, Yu Qiuyu described the beauty of the sand mountain in this way: "Light and shadow are separated by the smoothest lines. The golden color and dark ocher are pure and without spots, as if they have been sifted through a huge sieve. The wind day and night, the ridge, The hillside is shaped into waves, which are extremely graceful and smooth waves without a trace of ripples..." In the writings of aestheticians and writers, "light", "shadow" and "lines" are no longer purely theoretical. There are no living words, but words that can sense the depth of the author's heart.

As for Yu Qiuyu’s art theory works, they are also valued and respected by the academic community. For example, he published "History of Drama Theory" in 1983. This book is the first historical work in mainland China to fully explain the cultural development and drama thoughts of various countries in the world from ancient times to modern times. The following year after its publication, it won the first national drama award in Beijing. Theoretical Book Award, and ten years later won the first prize of the National Excellent Textbook Award of the Beijing Ministry of Culture, while another one was published in mainland China in 1985 and won the first prize of the National Excellent Textbook Award of the Beijing Ministry of Culture. In 1985, he published the first book on drama aesthetics in mainland China - "The Psychology of Dramatic Aesthetics", which also won the Shanghai Philosophy and Social Sciences Book Award the following year.
