But in fact, I think we have given ourselves too many shackles. I don't believe that people nowadays are no better than the ancients. If so, isn't our cultural development going backwards? Just as most people now regard Wang Xizhi's Preface to the Orchid Pavilion as an unattainable mountain in calligraphy, it is not unattainable or unparalleled, but we are used to modesty, so we always think that poems and paintings with a long history are unattainable.
Moreover, the living environment of people in each dynasty is different, so we should look at the cultural level of different periods with dialectical eyes. Although Tang poetry is a treasure, it is of course outstanding, but we also have countless cultural forms such as poetry and prose in modern times, which are equally great and intriguing. This is not to say that our language has lost its charm, or it can no longer convey words flexibly, but can only describe this phenomenon with the style of the past and the present.
Just as the great man said, "Every generation has its own talents, each leading the way for hundreds of years", although Tang poetry is very attractive, it is a magnificent tributary in the long river of our culture. In addition, there are various styles of integration and development. If we have to make a comparison, it can only be attributed to the different conditions of our respective times, which leads to different people's mentality, so the book feels different.
