Wang Changling [Tang Dynasty]
Xigong night is quiet and fragrant, and I want to roll the bead curtain and hate it for a long time.
Obliquely holding the clouds and seeing the moon, the hazy trees are hidden in the sun.
2. Translation:
In the West Palace, the night is quiet and the flowers are overflowing. I want to roll up the bead curtain and go out to enjoy the flowers, but I am afraid that the hatred in spring will only increase my troubles.
Holding the clouds sideways, staring at the night sky alone under the moon, I only saw a hazy shadow of trees, but I didn't see Zhaoyang Palace.
3. Precautions:
Xigong: The place where concubines lived in China feudal society.
Baihua: the general term for all kinds of flowers. Hundred is a divisor.
Bead curtain: A curtain made of vertical beads made of thread.
Hate: resentment.
Yunhe: synonymous with ancient musical instruments such as lyres and harps.
Hazy: the appearance of the object is blurred and can't be seen clearly
Zhaoyang: The name of the palace where Zhao once lived. This refers to the residence of the emperor.
4. Appreciate:
This poem is based on a beautiful night of flowers and moons, and spring is troublesome. Described a series of actions and attitudes of a girl confined in the palace. It is profound and nuanced, which makes readers feel as if they are there, seeing her complicated inner activities.
