Characteristics of Romantic Poetry

Romantic poetry has the following characteristics: advocating creative freedom, describing nature, paying attention to the innovation and anti-imitation of folk literature and art, emphasizing strangeness and ignoring the ordinary, describing strange plots with bold imagination and exaggeration, and shaping extraordinary and unique characters. Romantic poetry is novel in form, free in rhythm, rich in rhetoric and moving in metaphor. Romantic poetry has different characteristics in different countries.

Here we take Guo Moruo's early poems as an example to make an analysis:

1, advocating creative freedom. Let's take the goddess for example. No matter its creative form, creative thought or emotional freedom, it embodies the characteristics of romantic poetry.

2. Describe nature. Mr. Guo Moruo was an early pantheist. In the artistic creation of Goddess, the poet takes the whole nature as the writing object, so the universe, earth, sun, moon, stars, mountains and rivers, lightning, plants and birds all run to the bottom of the pen.

3. With bold imagination and exaggerated techniques, we describe strange plots and shape extraordinary and unique characters. We can appreciate the unique imagination and extraordinary ability to empower people from the poem "I created a solemn mountain and a magnificent ocean, I created the sun, the moon and the stars, and I rode storms and lightning" ("Xiang Lei").
