He was poor all his life, dissatisfied with the society and feudal ethics at that time, and vented his depression on poetry, drama, calligraphy and painting, or satirized it. Poetry is between Li Bai and Li He, and the text originated from Su Shi. Gongshu and Lishu are very famous. He is also good at painting ink flowers and birds, landscapes and figures, and can get rid of stereotypes and create a new style of freehand brushwork, which has a great influence on later generations. Also known as "Ivy League and Bai Yang" with Chen Daofu. Xu Wei lived a miserable life. In the twenty-first year of Wanli (1593), after writing the events of his life into a volume called Biography, he died of poverty at the age of 7 3.
